Glad you and your pack like the food!

Remember that if you're switching from a food with grains to one without that you might want to reduce the amount of food you serve. Guidelines on packages tend to be on the high side for a lot of dogs, but you might want to stick to the one on the bag of Orijen until you get a better idea of how much you actually need to feed, or better yet look at both the old food and the Orijen and do a comparison of recommended amounts to get a rough figure of what actual feeding differences should be.

No worries Meridian, my dogs use to only eat what they need. Anyway, if by 20 minutes after they have been fed their is remaining in the bowls I remove them until next meal. Harley will eat their food otherwise!
Thanks for all the help I got here!

I just looked into it but it isn't an option for us. I'm allergic to chicken so we are sticking with Innova EVO red meat. I've never been healthier and my coat has never been shinier. We are highly pleased with the results of the EVO so probably wouldn't switch anyways. I like my kibble just fine thanks. This might be a good option for dogs that aren't allergic to the ingredients in it.

I think I will contact the company to see what are their plans for the future about more selection available. Now they only have 5 food option. Regular dogs, Puppies, Large breed Puppies, Senior dogs and cats regular.
Thansk for the comment Lily. I was looking for something for senior without chicken because my foster Buddy is alergic to that ingredient.

I contacted them about two weeks ago, I was told they will be introducing new flavors, varieties in the fall of 2007. I inquired because I do think it's a great food but my gang is allergic to turkey, chicken, so I have to steer clear. Just to let you know. They seem very nice also smile

We just got some and Lola loves it! I love the price! It's about half the cost of Innova and has great ingredients! Not only that but it smells nice, like actual food. We tried switching Lola from her Wellness to the Orijen gradually, but she just ate the Orijen kibbles and left the Wellness. Not only that but she actually begs and digs at the dog food bag. I think this one's a keeper.

Glad I found this in the forums search!
Our natural pet store JUST started carrying this (we're in WA) and mama got us a sample. I didn't even check the price on the big bags yet.
Any other opinions on Orijen? Sounds great to us!!dancing

I was just visiting their website yesterday. I thought their food was only available in Canada, but now it's actually sold in Savannah, GA--only 45 minutes away from where Mom goes to college! That is incredible because nothing is ever available here in Georgia near where we live... not even Innova or Solid Gold or any of those foods! She might make a trip over there and pick me up a bag. She's heard excellent things about this food, and it is rated 6 stars on dogfoodanalysis-- there are very foods given 6 stars on that site.

Hopefully Mom will be able to afford a bag! BOL!

Hi there. I've tried Orijen and it works for me. The senior is also a great food unfortunately my pal Rose has allergies to chicken.
Good Luck.

They are trying to make it available lots of other places, which I think is great! It's a really good kibble. Now in Savannah, huh? Definitely give it a try. I heard it thru the grapevine that once they expand their availability that they might make a different formula so that Orijen dogs can have some variety in their lives and still eat that yummy nutritious food. Wouldn't that be great? Oh, I just noticed that Maya heard the same thing!

Lola -- It does smell good doesn't it? As many of you Dogsters know, we're a strictly raw-fed family, but I work at a pet food store and deal with Orijen every day. When the people don't bother to clip the coupons from the trial sized bags and they come back with some kibble powder at the bottom it isn't even gross!

Cali -- This food is made only about a 4 hours drive from where I live. I don't know if this affects price too much, but it's a couple bucks cheaper than EVO here. Even if it's a tiny bit pricier, I think it's worth it.
