I have a 4month old American Pit Bull Terrier Colby blood line. He is eating Science Diet Puppy Forumla. I feed him according to the bag for his weight which is 35lbs and consulted a vet who says he is healthy and i am feeding him accurately, but he is ALWAYS hungry. I never had this problem with my 2 other pits. He tries to eat EVERYTHING. He wont stay out of the trash. No, he doesnt have worms. I even tried feeding him a little extra and breaking his feeding down to feeding him more than twice a day. The proper amount just 6times a day instead of twice... but nope. He still wants to eat everything, digs in the trash, opens the cupboards to eat our food. lol. Any suggestions?

Ahhh, he's probably just going through a growth spurt, just like the humans do. I'd give him a little extra, or maybe try a food with more fat content. Is this food for pups or adults?

Maybe the puppy food you are feeding has alot of fillers in it. I used to feed our puppies Iams Large Breed Puppy and they ate alot of it. I changed to a different puppy food a few months ago and they don't eat half as much.

Look into some of these foods for your pet:

Wellness
Canidae
Timberwolf Organics
Innova
California Natural

I'm sure some other people on here will have similar recommendations. Good luck!

Some certain dog foods are inadequate for one dog. The saying goes, what works for one dog may not work for another. Your pup may have different nurtitional needs, therefore SD may not be the best for him. You can try a food with less corn in it, because SD puppy formula lists ground corn as its second or third ingredient. Look on the food packages for the ingredients list and pick a brand with a meat, like chicken or venison as the first, second, and even third ingredient. As I posted before, Castor and Pollux' brand has chicken, turkey, and chicken meal as its first ingredients. Protein is vital to a pup's growth, but too much or too little can be damaging.

innova is a great food with very high quality ingredients, innova evo having the highest protein of any dog food. that might be particularly appropriate for a hungry little guy like yours, and none of their foods have fillers like corn or rice. chicken soup for the dog lovers soul is also a good brand to feed- hope that helps!

I just switched Meisha from Science Diet Puppy to Innova puppy. She doesn't eat nearly as much, or beg for table scraps. I don't know if this is just because her tummy is still a little upset from the switch, or that she's actually full...
