There are a couple of extreme animal rights organizations and certain individuals with a vested interest in the demise of pitties, they have said as much in their press releases and their lightly publicized public speeches. I think the media doesn't even give it that much thought as mayhem sells.

There is news video of the rescuer stroking the burned pittie's paw in a comforting manner. She lets the dog's paw drop and the dog puts its paw back into her hand. There is only tenderness in the dog's gesture and a plea for comfort (if I may anthropromorphize for a moment). Coming from this breed that is often misrepresented as uncontrollably dangerous, it is particularly touching.

This is not a story that will get wide play as it does not fit in to some AR organizations' end game. You will also never see it told on the "awful web site" that the OP was referring to (the web link has since disappeared).

Well, scary stories sell. All the news media cares about is money...I'm not one to use foul language, but if I was I'd be cussing up a storm right now.silenced

The OP said: Basically it made her mad and she wondered if anyone else had seen it? Its called www.dogsbite.org...I hope that not many people see it and that it goes out fo business...quickly!

I looked into the background of this site. I discovered that it was created by Colleen Lynn who was the unfortunate victim of a dog bite while jogging. She is also a web designer. She at some point made a connection to a Denver City attorney, Kory Nelson, who has spearheaded not only the Denver Pit Bull BSL, but BSL in other jurisdictions as well. Mr. Nelson is a documented member of PETA and is known to have assisted Ms. Lynn in creating the website. He is also supplying her with much of the "information" that she posts.

The site is also receiving the assistance of California dog-bite attorney Kenneth Phillips and his website dogbitelaw.com.

Mr. Nelson's position on pit bulls dovetails exactly with one of the large national animal rights organizations; he believes that all pit pull type dogs should be euthanized.

I wish there was some public figures out there willing to stand up and speak on whats right and to let the public know the actual stats on dog bites. Its a damn shame that the only information being fed to the public is false information.

Unfortunately you have your people like that attorney Nelson who are more than willing to stand up and open their pie holes to spread false rumors about a particular animal.

Maybe we should euthanize all sharks too, cause, you know there are a whole heck of a lot of shark attacks every year. There's been atleast 245 in the past 5 years in the US. Sheesh. Sue happy country. That's all we've become.

I can't speak to other states but here in California we have lost some very nice pet friendly hotels and some great parks and beaches directly because of irresponsible dog owners.

In one large, luxury hotel in San Diego they stopped accepting dogs because someone's dog pooped in an elevator and then just left it there.

Our local city parks are under assault because of the irresponsible people who do not pick up after their dog - especially now that it's youth soccer season and lots of people want to sit/picnic on the grass.

There are many state beaches where dogs are not allowed because very irresponsible owners allowed their untrained/undisciplined animals to bother people and their leashed pets and also because too many people fail to pickup after them.

I think that we - the responsible dog owners - need to get out there and educate people, even if we have to do it one at a time. Of course it wouldn't hurt if we could get a celebrity spokesperson of our own.

This is the vilest thing I've ever seen, writen by a horrible ignorant person.
Shes lying about pitties to everyones faces, she calls them 'wild animals of unstoppable aggression', and is picking all sorts of other breeds, like chow chows, bullmastiffs and even shar-peis.
I don't care about freedom of opinion on this occaision; somwone should shut this site downfrown

What a complete joke. All I can do is hope that Dutch is dead on about the statistics you mentioned earlier and Ms. Lynn drowns in herself in her bath tub.
