for those of you who don't understand why a pug / lab or whatever type dog besides the usual is on the BSL list.... it is because someone got bite / scratched or even barked at by one of them and it would have been reported as an attack ( even if nothing happened ) and they screamed bloody murder to ban or restrict them. That is what we are talking about, NO DOG OR BREED / MIX IS SAFE

I think it is odd that the lab, pug, and fox terrier are on the list. Why isn't the chihuahua on the list? They can be vicious right?shock
I have seen much more chihuahuas bite than those three dogs together, yet they aren't considered dangerous because they are small. Big dogs shouldn't be penalized for biting just because of their size when a small dog can easily get away with it. That would be dumb to have a ban for dogs over 15lbs. What is this world coming to? It seems like they want to band all breeds.

Some of these are so rediculous! PUGS? goldens? mastiffs? My country has stooped to a new low. frown
Is there any information as to what ideas got into the heads of some of these counties and states to ban particular breeds?

"That breed has a meaaaann face lets ban it!"
"lets ban things with foreign sounding names!"

really now! BSL makes me sick. frown

Actually, that list was made up by insurance companies, just another way to grab the money out of your pockets, or to cancel your homeowners insurance. Many cities will use the list for BSL enforcement, some cities just select a few breeds they deem dangerous and use that.


It really just depends on what insurance company you're dealing with and whether or not they have the so called list of protential bitters.

There is also a city in Iowa that has a ban on any breed that can get over 100lb. This includes a lot of the larger breeds you just wouldn't expect to see on a list. I don't know if this includes that city, but I think it might!!

Sick that my registered therapy dog is now thought to be a danger to people. I feel so much for those of you who have breeds that are usually on the list! Thanks to everyone who fights these things - still waiting for my chance!
