Actually, Pitties and other BSL breeds are trained and used as Service Dogs, and make very good SDs. Also, In the US, Service Dogs are exempt from BSL. Service Dogs are protected by the ADA, Federal law, which trumps any BSL, which is state/local law. That isn't saying that the local idiots won't try and you won't have to fight, but if it wound up in Federal court, you would win, they would loose! |  |  | |  |

I understand pitties are apart of the service dog world and I really like that. I am just saying though the majority of guide dogs for the blind orginizations train labs, goldens, GSDs, and recentley Standard Poodles. Chances are if you are blind you are going to get one of those breeds then a pitt.

That is what we are trying to get it into everyones head. Some people think that because it is a Pug, L.A , Poodle, Yorkie, Chi's etc. they can't or won't do damage. I can tell you FIRST HAND they can, do and will. No dog breed is exempt. Just because you feel these breeds do not deserve to be on the list is like saying others do. No breed deserves to be there. So while some dog owners of smaller dogs or so called family friendly dogs don't like it when those who are killed everyday because of what they are and not what they did compare their dogs... saying things like how I took whayt you said isn't right or fair either. I love all breeds, I have my choice of breeds but will defend every breed out there. One breed is no better or worse then the next. It is the owners / breeders that make the difference. | | | | |

We all know no one deserves to be there, but putting a pug on a list of dangerous dogs goes so far beyond the usual ignorance of the people who usually support BSL and I find it terrifyingly comical that anyone could take them seriously. | | Barked: Wed Oct 8, '08 2:30am PST | | | | | | DUDE?  Hmmm ok. I have spent more hours then a few. We have been fighting BSL even before it became known as BSL. Back when rotties. dobies and shepards were the targets.
My exception with what you said was, implying that while you disagree with BSL that certain types of breeds don't need to be there more then others. NO BREED deserves to be there. I don't care if they have a block head or are small enough to trip you up so you fall and knock your head in a way that it can kill you. Honestly for alot of people who don't have BSL type ( or what ppl believe is one) it is VERY HARD for them to understand what it is like to live in fear for your dog everyday. Once they have an idea of what that is like, then they will fight.
I posted an article a long time ago that was in a newspaper. It was about Labs being banned. This was before the 75 list came out. I would have been tarred and feathered only it was on dogster. If people actually read it, it stated very clearly that it was false ( at that time). That it was hypothetical. I can tell you, it woke alot of lab owners up. All of a sudden, they felt the fear and unknown.
Alot of these lab owners were the ones saying " but they are so sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly" and other things like that. It was a different story when they saw their breed in print with BSL. | | | | |

You don't know me and you have no idea what I do to fight BSL, nor do you know what kind of dogs I have had in the past. Don't come at me because you have a chip on your shoulder. Attacking people who fight BSL isn't the best way to endear folks to you or your cause. I've read through these replies and you seem to want to start things with a lot of people who disagree with BSL. Lighten up and stop assuming that how you take things is absolutely what someone meant. It is possible that you take things the wrong way sometimes. Being this quick to jump on someone who is actually on the same side you are isn't going to help anything.
I wasn't going to explain, but since it seems I have to, here you go. I think all BSL is stupid. I grew up with dobes, pits, GSDs, boxers, and many other breeds that people are terrified of. I know their fear is beyond ignorant. But the media is to blame for a lot of it. It's obvious that there are people who are terrified of certain breeds for no reason except what they read in the papers or hear on the news. That's very common these days. Stupid, but common. I think what a lot of people have said on here is that this list just proves how dumb BSL is. It would prove it to anyone with half a brain. A lot of people can come up with arguments that others find valid when it comes to certain dogs. I don't find them valid, but plenty of people do. But I am pretty sure there's no possible way for anyone to make a valid point about banning a pug. A pug. BSL uses fear to promote its agenda. Now, you can scare a lot of people when you're talking about certain breeds, but if you can scare someone with the idea of being maimed or killed by a pug? Then that person needs serious help.
Stop trying to pick fights with people who agree with you and save this indignation for the BSL people. | | | | |
