Banning breeds is absurd. Animals are animals. They can instinctual turn on anyone/ thing regardless of breed. As with children - it comes down to nature and nurture. How an animal is raised plays a large part in how they will behave. How an animal is trained also plays a large roll.

it is one thing for an individual to be afraid of an animal, it is another however, for generalizations to be mad b/c certain people have those fears (justified or not).

Many people see breed discrimination as no different than racial discrimination...

I love pitt bulls and many of the breeds that are banned. I work w/ many of them as well. EVERY SINGLE breed of dog i have ever worked with has had at least one bad apple. Some dogs are more likely to be dog aggressive, people aggressive, fearful etc - but how can we punish a breed for being a breed?

Closed mindedness is the hardest thing to deal with. Also - these decisions are not based on medical sound information but on opinions, bias, politics and money.

It reminds us that BSL does affect us all.
I’m sure everyone on dogster has/had or knows someone close to them that has/had one of the listed breeds or a mix thereof.
We have to keep an eye on legislators!

Personally, I think some people just nee dto learn that all dogs are capable of biting. This is getting ridiculous! Pretty soon we won't be allowed any dogs at all! To quote the movie Underdog, "There are no bad dogs; only bad owners."
