Who thinks that it should be a law that dog's can not be chained?

Ok doggies,

I'm closing this one down. Although we respect everyone's opinions, when the posts become too personal, too righteous or vicious we close the thread.

I am not sure if there are many, if any, absolute truths out there besides the fact that everyone who took the time to post on this forum loves their dogs and knows their dogs better than anyone and will try their best to take of their pets the best they know how. Sure sometimes we make unskilled choices but we are all here communicating, discussing and trying.

Personally I was learning a lot in this thread but it is just getting cyclical and honestly a bit unpleasant. Let's take a break and if someone feels like revisiting it in a few days with kindness in their heart, go for it.

Because I've said it 100 million times.
Ok. These are my standards for chaining:
1) Dog must be let off daily
2) Dog must have swivel to prevent choking
3) Dog must have fresh food and water daily

Really, if you follow those steps, I am OK with it. I keep my dogs on chains for their safety. They go crazy in pens, and I will not let them run loose and get trampled by moose, mauled by bears, killed by other dogs, and hit by cars.

I keep my guys on a chain for around 15-20 hours a day when we're in town in the summer. I do go outside and spend time with them a lot though (picking up poop, cleaning water, feeding, etc.). In winter, they're on a chain 10-15 hours because we're training more often. In winter we usually spend the entire weekend training.

Well at least you take care of them and they get the exercise they need. I'm mostly talking about the idiots that leave them chained 24-7 and never go for walks.
