Here is a warning though for anyone who uses Ivermectin based heartworm prevention products:

•Following concomitant extra label use of ivermectin with Vethical AcuGuard, some dogs have experienced the following clinical signs: trembling/twitching, salivation /drooling, seizures, incoordination, excessive dilation of pupils, blindness and disorientation.

Riley- The same reaction happens with Comfortis and any type of Ivermectin. We had a dog come into our clinic and almost die because of the owner's using a combination of the drugs.

ETA: Actually I was just looking, AcuGuard is the same as Comfortis. The active ingredient in both is Spinosad.

I will switch to Acu Guard. I use Frontline and I still have some fleas. My sister tried Acu Guard and she has no fleas.

We have been using it for a couple of months and LOVE it! We were seeing fleas almost daily with Frontline and Advantix. My vet recommended this and I have only seen one flea. Only problem is that I have to get it at the vet and it is a bit pricey (can't find it online anywhere yet). But, it is well worth the money, in my opinion. Also, I believe (could be wrong) that it doesn't kill off ticks. But, we live in the city and I was willing to take the risk.

I have been using it for months and it works great! I used Frontline Plus too in combination with it.
