Did your vet X ray her immediately to access the degree of damage? Is she on crate rest? Those two are essential for beginning IVDD treatment.

Hi there!! I had back surgery and I am doing great!!
There are several different ways to handle this and if it were my mommy, she would get a second opinion as well as join dodgerslist.com
I had surgery because I lost feeling in my back legs even after being crated and on steroids. So we tried that first, I got worse, and then I had surgery.
When a dog goes completely down, surgery should be done rather fast for the best chances.
There are no guarantees either way, but since I lost complete feeling in my back legs, surgery it was.
And after very strict crate rest even after and lots of love from mommy, I got better.
As a side note, you can have a very happy and long life even without use of your back legs. It's just nice to try and keep on using them.
Not I get acupuncture every few months and a nice lady gives me a massage once a month, all keeps me limber. And then daddy gives me a rub down every night at bedtime!

Hugs~
