GO!
This forum is for dog lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your dog. Don't furget to check out Dogster's Dog Care Guide Book for information about caring for the health of your dog!

You should put him down.. A little bit of a rant.

Okay this is just going to sound snarky and petty but I don't care because that was really mean and I'm mad--

When Pi gets all better and is his normal gorgeous self again TOTALLY RUB IT IN HER FACE!!!!!!!!

She's not a good friend. Don't listen to her.

Just hug your doggie, all will be well!

WSU will send you the test "kit" for free. You can request it off their site. Turn around time for the actual results isn't that long. Plus, if you do have it, there is a whole list of products you will want to avoid; if you don't, then you can hit the Ivomec and knock this crud out.

In the meantime, tell the friend to stuff it.

That is very sad, I guess some people dont realize our pets are part of our family. I wish you the best with your pet and have a long and happy relationship with your real friend the dog.

Must agree with Lily -- she just said before I got to the end of the thread! Antibiotics might also cause some diarrhea. I use Genflora from the local pet health food store, but I'm sure the other posters' suggestions work as well. Just get him on SOMETHING!!!

Raw is probably a good idea; I've heard of people having success, particularly with enough vitamin C and other stuff that boosts the immune system. Hmm... I wonder if dogs can have honey? I always make myself some hot honey tea when I'm sick, and ever since I started doing that I've been very resistant to illness. Honey is great for the immune system, but I'm not sure if it would be too sweet for dogs. I think my new environment has also helped me stay well; less dust and fuzz seems to keep my body functioning better so I try to make sure I vacuum often.

So sorry about Pi's troubles, but I'm hoping they'll soon be over. smile Don't listen to that jerk!

A couple more thoughts.... Has Pi been tested for his thyroid levels? My friends has had a Rhodesian Ridgeback whose skin-problems were finally cleared up when he received treatment for thyroid issues.

I also had a friend more than 20 years ago, whose dog had issues with itching and raw skin. Flea-allergies, grass-allergies were suspect, months went by and guess what, when his owners finally came down with "scabies" and they were all treated appropriately, they all lived happily ever after....

P.S.: Are you aware that much of the medical treatments are a
process of elimination? They will give you or your animal
pharmaceuticals until something finally works.
You are your pets best advocate! Trust your gut!
