Baby Powder On Dogs

This forum is for dog lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your dog.

Is it safe to rub your dogs coat with baby powder?

If so how often is it okay to do so?

My Mom gives me a poof of baby powder after every bath. So it's only like once a month for me. Not sure how much is too much.

Doctors are starting to think that baby powder isn't even good for babies. I wouldn't use it on a dog at all.

Why would you put baby power on a dog?

If you want your dog to have a soft coat, feed him raw eggs once a week.puppy

I wouldn't recommend it either...

Crazy Dog makes a great grooming spray that smells exactly like baby powder. I bought a small bottle (2 oz) at Petco for $2 (the 8 oz is $8). They also make a baby powder scented shampoo, but I have never used it.

I put baby powder on Daisy after a bath. But only under her arm pits. Why would you put it on their coat? I don't think that would be good for them. I don't understand why anyone would do that. I don't recomend putting it on their coat.

Baby Powder has never been good for babies. If the powder gets into their lungs, it makes it very hard for them to breathe. I would assume it would be the same with dogs, since they don't know to hold their breath. Who knows?
