Laying Down To Eat

This forum is for dog lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your dog.

King always lays down to eat. He even did as a puppy. At one time, I was feeding him a prepared raw diet and while eating that he never lay down to eat. We fed him separate from our other two dogs when we fed him the raw food.

Is it a good or bad thing that King eats laying down ?

I don't see a problem with that. He's just comfy and feels secure. Unless there's an arthritis problem somewhere.

King doesn't have an arthritis problem so far. He gets up and lays down without problem. I have been thinking about getting elevated dog feeders and wondered if he would need one since he lays down to eat anyways.

Sheba lays down to eat...has since we got her at less than 6 months old...Samson & Pippin eat standing...Sheba is still a pup & quite alot shorter than the boys so, honestly, I think it is just because she is a smart girl!laugh out loud
