IF YOU ARE USING MR. CLEAN MAGIC ERASERS....STOP!

This forum is for dog lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your dog.

An interesting email I received. We looked into it & sure enough, this is true. The one thing it does not state here but is common sense ..... its bad for our pets as well.
Too bad because these things DO work wonders !

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU ALL KNOW THAT I AM A HUGE
FAN OF

MAGIC ERASERS.....HOWEVER, I HAVE A FRIEND THAT
TOOK
ENGINEERING IN SCHOOL AND HE NOW WORKS FOR A
HUGE
COMPANY IN HALIFAX AND THEY GET THE HEADS UP ABOUT
PRODUCTS BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. WELL HE CALLED ME LAST
NIGHT AND SAID THAT I HAVE TO STOP USING THE MAGIC
ERASERS AND THAT THEY ARE SLOWLY BEING BANNED FROM ALL
STORES BECAUSE THEY CONTAIN THE INGREDIENT

FORMALDEHYDE. YES THE CHEMICAL THEY USE TO

AND CAN

BE HARMFUL TO YOURSELF, SO PLEASE IF YOU ARE

THEM,
THROW THEM AWAY, DON'T

ANYONE
WHOM

YOU THINK MIGHT USE THEM, ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG
CHILDREN.

Here is the information right on Mr. Clean's website:

You were given the wrong information. Next time, do some research before posting stuff like this.

Josh, the seizures were probably either from the pieces blocking his gastrointestinal tract and lack of oxygen getting to the brain or something else. Take a look at both links. There is no formaldehyde in the product...period.

I don't doubt a toxin, but I don't think from that, considering the site says that it's less then what is in normal air. My mom knows about puppies chewing things though. They get into everything. I hope that he is on some medication and that his seizures are not as often and not to severe. I'll keep him in my thoughts.

Mr. Clean erasers don't work because of a cleanser so they are as safe as any other sponge. They work because they are lightly abrasive and are similar to 'sanding sponges' you can find at the hardware store.
The reason they are soooo fabulous for cleaning is that the abrasive factor is soooo low that they don't visibly ruin anything.
