|I am worried about some of the things I have heard about ESS temperaments, although my grandparents had a succession of lovely ones, all named "Ruffles."
The ones that interest me most, at this time, at the Welsh Springer, the Boykin, the Field, and the English Cocker. I'm interested in which would suit a Golden Retriever household well. Of course I do have other dogs, a Lab/Pit mix, a Cattle Dog/Pit mix, a 7-year old Golden, and a young Toller mix. As I said, this pup won't come after my next Golden puppy, which is planned for my next 2-3 years.
I have heard that Brittanies are rather sensitive.
I am also aware that many Boykins have bad hips.
I know that some Am. Cockers can be quite birdy and drivey, just not sure if I could deal with that distractibity.
Training ability and quick intelligence, cleverness, is a must. So is playfulness and naughtiness.
Thanks for the info, Savannah!
