|Oooooohh, fun topic!!
Originally, Okami's name came from a video game called Okami and the main character is a wolf called Okami Amaterasu. But I also love her name for it's meaning. Okami means wolf in Japanese and Amaterasu is the name of the Japanese sun Goddess. I especially love this name for her because Okami acts just as regal and majestic as a wolf...and with the proper attitude to boot! Also, Okami looks more like a fox than a wolf, so I love the twist on her name . I also love the name because the original name of Amaterasu is Amaterasu Omekami, so the new name is a twist and a sort of "pun" on the original.
My plan is to get a second Shiba in about a year or so, a black and tan male hopefully. And this may seem rather odd that I have a name already, but my plan is to name the new pup Kitsune Tsukuyomi. In case you haven't caught on yet, Kitsune means fox in Japanese, and Tsukuyomi is the name of the Japanese moon God. So my two Shibas would have corresponding names
I love coming up with interesting and unique names for my pets. And I especially love when I can have those names mean something particular to me, even if I'm the only one who gets it!
