 | | | | "People pay a few thousand for labradoodles and many other so called designer breeds and they are still getting A Mixed Breed with health problems from 2 breeds."
That's not necessarily the case. Yes, they're a mixed breed, but they don't necessarly inherit the health problems from both the parent breeds. They can often be healthier than both the sire and dam, although that's not a given. Hybrid vigor; it's not just for plants, anymore. In other words, it's the inbreeding itself that has caused so many genetic health issues of the purebreds.
You know how insurance companies keep the best statistics because it effects their bottom line? It's quite a bit cheaper to insure a mixed breed or a mutt than a purebred dog. They actually do tend to have fewer health problems. Been getting a lot of quotes lately from different companies for my own mixed breed dog and for the purebred dogs of some breeders I know, and the discount goes to the mutts.
They didn't list 'champagne labs', though, I'm sure they're so bubbly they just ward of disease naturally. | | | | |
