GO!

Goldendoodle preparations...

If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

Okay, sorry for not giving ALL the information. I know what I have posted is confusing and doesn't make sense. The puppies are home raised. We will visit the puppies sometime in the coming weeks. She has very healthy dog's. In the people that have already reserved the puppies were people who had gotten their last dog from her. It is hard to get all the news around, again sorry for being confusing I feel bad that I haven't even cleared up all the 'confusion'.

My concerns about this breeder are
1. She doesn't care whether you visit or not and didn't give any interview so anyone could just buy the puppies. Contract isn't a guarentee of a good breeder.
2. She makes a big point to say she can't guarentee health, and about autoimmune disorders not being genetic (uh), and makes me wonder how many of her dogs or puppies have them.

Adam,
The breeder I am talking to about getting my next puppy from does not guarantee that her puppies will always be healthy either. Yet, she is probably the most responsible, ethical and honest breeder that I know. She does all the appropriate health tests on her dogs, requires that all puppy buyers have hip and elbow certs done (and she pays for it), and does extensive pedigree research before breeding. She honestly admits that even after all of her research and work to breed the best and most healthy puppies possible, she cannot guarantee that there will never be a problem. She is right - no one can guarantee that your puppy will never get sick. I am very choosy what breeders I support and where my puppies come from and this breeder is at the very top of my list. Now I just need to convince her that I am worthy of one of her puppies. And believe me, getting on her list is not easy. In her last litter of 7 pups, she kept one, 5 went to people that have previously got a pup(s) from her and only 1 went to someone new. So obviously people are happy with her and with the puppies she produces.

Thank you Maggie, that was very encouraging, I know that no breeder can
promise that the puppies will never get ill.

Well here is the deal, we called the other breeder we like, she has puppies. We reserved a silver beige, or it might turn to cafe lait she is a very good breeder and we will be able to pick her up (female)
I am glad you pointed us in the right direction, first of all, thanks for leading us AWAY from the GD and to the Poodle, I am glad you said that 2200 is far too expensive. Also, sorry for being confusing with my posts. I will keep you guys updated.

Oh Maggie I definately agree with what you said, this one breeder though sounded fishy because she really went on and on about it on her website I thought anyway. I would want to know if she breeds dogs with the autoimmune disorders she spoke of or at what age she begins breeding. You would know more than me though. I guess you really can't judge a breeder by the website!
