If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

| Barked: Tue Jul 7, '09 3:51pm PST | | | | | | Keltsy, a Shih Tzu, hated to be on my lap I wanted to cuddle with her, but she would tire of it after only a few minutes. Bruno, however, has to always be on me. Even if its just his elbow. Or he will want to just lay across either one of us, he has to have contact at all times. This time of year it gets hot so I'm always pushing him off, but he loves to snuggle no matter what. Don't know if it's a Frenchie thing or not. | | | | |

| Barked: Tue Jul 7, '09 10:14pm PST | | | | | | I also vote for Pitties! They might not fit on your lap though, but if your lying down, they make a great blanket! BOL!
I vote for CATS!!!!!
*Everyone Gasps*
Yes, cats! Not all of em, but all my cats love to sit in my lap! Libby even tries to lick my face while she's on my lap! She thinks she's a dog! Bol!
Anyways, toodles!

| Barked: Wed Jul 8, '09 7:47am PST | | | | | | I definitely agree that this is a dog-to-dog thing, not necessarily a breed issue. BUT...Brandy, a min pin, is the definition of a lap dog! If you are sitting, she has to be on your lap. And it's not just my husband & I's laps, it's anyones. Even when new people come over she'll be right on thier lap if given the chance!
Then our other dog, a 90 lb bullmastiff, is our other lap dog! When I sit on the floor, she trots right over, turns around, and reverses until she can plop her big ole butt on my lap! It really is too cute! | | | | |

| Barked: Thu Jul 9, '09 1:09pm PST | | | | | | I've read all the way through and my two cents is that any dog that's well-cared for and well-loved is usually a more-than-willing willing lap dog. | | | | |
