Your dog loves- you so love your- dog!

| Barked: Fri Jul 3, '09 5:42pm PST | | | | | | Im sure this tital goes to an individual dog an not a breed, Ive known some pitbull mixes who were MAJOR lap dogs. Im just curious what dogsters think Ive heard the title given to pugs (now my love the lap at times but i wouldnt call them ultimate lap dogs I think there a little playful for the title and in hte hot weather mine prefer the floor right in front of hte AC to the lap) Ive also heard it applied to cavalier king charles spaniels and english toy spaniels (two of my current favorite breeds), malteses, mini daschunds, havanese, and pekes.
I love a dog that likes lap time, but Im just curious what do you think is the ultimate lap dog. (I know big dogs can be lap dogs and I love that too but for the purpose of this post Im thinking small dogs)

Belle
Short legs, long- body, huge- heart. |

So I am thinking about what arethe most lap lovign small dogs. My pugs really do love laps but they get hot and then they like to lie on the linoleum, tubby likes to sit right nextto you. They love to sleep in the bed. this doxie Im talking baout would be in the lap for 5 plus hrs, it was almost too much she didnt do anything else. Im thing cavaliaers or english toy spaniels may be nice lap dogs for me to checkout along with my puggies and my big dog.

I'm actually serious -- and not making any implications that you are a 'babe'
My point is that maybe a less brachycephalic dog would be more comfortable pulling major lap time.
Doxies for sure have a bit of snout!
(I know, just one of my crazy ideas I'm thowing out. ..)
Watson would love for you to come north and experience his lap snuggling technique in person. It often involves lying on his back in one's lap for better belly-rub potential.

They drive me nuts in the summer at night we have the AC on of course but they want to be in the bed cuddling then they want to jump out and lie on the floor, and then they start to cry to be picked up and put in the bed again, etc. And of course my dream lap expectationsn are pretty high. I love a lap dog. Tiny who was a flawed dog in practically every way (barking, hating other dogs, biting people, peeing everywhere) was a personal favorite of mine due to her lap loving. However, Im not so sure I would have wanted to live with her full time. Of course she was never trained.
Cavs have a snout so maybe they wouldnt over heat.
