Choosing the Right Dog

GO!
If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

What other breeds has your purebred been mistaken for?

@ Kyan-

Why thank you! Kyan is quite the look himself! I really love Groenendaels, by far my favorite of the Belgians. They'd probably be my breed of choice, had GSDs not claimed me as a child laugh out loud

I've only ever seen pictures of the solid blacks, and I was suspicious of their heritage. I hear that in Germany grossing Mals with other Belgians and even GSDs to improve workability isn't uncommon, so I just assumed they were hybrids! Its interesting to know that they do actually come in that color!

Mia & Dot

Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!

Dot: Border Collie (understandably)
Mia: She got "wolf mix" a few times when she was young, and "what mix is that" lately.
I love the random shelter mixes, one of Dot's best dog pals appears to be a perfect shiba/pittie cross but only 16 inches or so at the withers, weirdest looking dog ever.

Sneakiest Dog- Ever

B is pretty short for a Lab, and really is a very un-Labby Lab, with her long body and stubby legs. Most people can identify her as a Lab, but I met one guy who was CONVINCED she couldn't be a purebred, and nothing I said mattered, she was a spaniel mutt (?) or something like that.

Missy

It's my way or- the highway!

Although Missy is and looks very much like a shih tzu I get responses like maltese all the time. I guess it's ppl who don't know their breeds though.

Sunny: Portugese Water Dog or as the man said "Hey is that like the Obama's dog?" thinkinglaugh out loud

I also get French bulldog for both pugs.

Now, for my two puggles:
Bailey:Rhodesian Ridgeback and a pig (I kid you not)
Bo: Boxer which is understandable I guess and Great Dane thinking

The woman asked what kind of dog he was and I said Puggle and she said "NO! There is no way he is a puggle, he is too big. He looks Great Dane to me" thinking This lady wasn't joking either. Bo stands 17 inches tall and weighs about 28 pounds. His tail is curled. I couldn't help but laugh.
