Is it true that Chis get along best with other Chis? I have another dog and he and Princess get along great, but he was here firstbig grin. I am concerned about how Princess would react if I got yet another dog. (Yes, I am insanelaugh out loud ) Any Chis share their people with non Chi dogs that came along after?

Luna and I are part of a chi group that meets once a month and let the dogs play together. They all get along like no other! It is so fun to watch them play together and be completely comfortable with each other.

My cousin has a shih tzu that is a little bigger than Luna, but they get along great. Luna is and always will be my one and only. She ignores me and is unhappy if I give any attention to any other dog. We tried adopting another chi. Luna loved playing in the yard with him but once we came in the house she was over it. The night the other chi spent with us was the only time Luna didn't sleep with me. She was mad at me for 3 days after he went back to the rescue. She slept on the bed but not with me, she wouldn't eat, she wouldn't even take a treat from me.

Chi's are addictive and sometime I am jealous of people who have several but Luna is the light in my life and she deserves to be as happy as she makes me so I wont get another dog.

My two girls are so close to each other. They are a year apart and inseparable. They have had some play dates with other chis at the breeder's house and they love being around other chis! They definitely recognize them as their own kind. When they see other breeds of dogs, they get really angry and bark a lot. I can't even take them to my dad's house because they DO NOT get along with his Jack Russell at all. They did spend some time with my last dog Rocky who was a terrier/shih-tzu mix when he lived with me the last couple years of his life but they never really got along with him. They knew he was the pack leader but they just kind of co-existed in the same space and didn't interact with him at all. However if he got too close to their food, they'd make it known that they were not impressed by that. I think chis stick together because they are so small but I think it completely depends on the individual personality of the dog and how well you integrate the other dog into the family. I have found that my girls are pretty possessive of me and are not happy if I give attention to another dog.

Good luck!

Peaches (my chi) goes BALISTIC when I visit my mom and she gets to see my mom's chi Poo, whom she grew up with. Peaches is the only dog Poo tolerates and even lets Peaches curl up in her doggie snuggle bag with her. Chi's TOTALLY recognize other chi's!

My adopted chi mix Tod (all chi in personality!) lives with my other adopted dog who is 32lbs. They were best friends from day one! Tod will very openly play with bigger dogs in the extended family as well - labs, hounds, huskys ect. I haven't seen him play with other chis yet, although I anticipate cuteness smile I think if the match works on other levels (like compatable genders, energy level ect.) having many different breeds in the house is more fun!blue dog
