	Omg! There's another Paco on here! Cool! As for my Paco, he's never had much hair to begin with. In fact, he's never had much body fat either. And skin as thin as tissue paper. His skin seems to get dry easily, & since never gets particularly dirty, he doesn't get baths that often, as it dries his skin out. But his collar was rubbing some of the hair on his neck off, so I loosened it up a little bit. But he's just never had much hair on his chest or belly or around his ears. But it sounds as though your chi might be suffering from some kind of allergy if he's losing hair like that. Paco's never really lost any hair - he just didn't have much to begin with, lol! Some of the other posters have given some good suggestions as far as shampoos & stuff that you can use to help with his skin allergies.

	hello fellow chi's! my head (and not so much anywhere else) is balding too! i'm not sure if its the diet because i have a big brother chi that seems to be doing just fine. i wonder if i'm allergic to anything - or if there's some type of supplement that i can take to boost hair growth? double xo duchess bebe trix

	I am a gorgeous, of course, fawn female age 7 and have been losing hair for several years. Some has grown back where rubbed off by a collar (collars and leashes are for dogs, not princesses). But there is not much left at all on my tail, tummy, back of legs, and going up my sides. It is a little embarrassing to be this naked and Queen of the World. Fish oil and benedryl really did not help me. Any other ideas or am I heading towards total baldness?

	It's a pretty commonly held belief that chihuahua breeding included at least one hairless breed. Could this be contributing to hairlessness in chihuahuas?

	When my humom first got me (12 wks old), I didn't have any hair on the back of my ears and I itched all the time. I am a real short-hair. Now I get oatmeal shampoos approx every 3 wks and excellent food (Wellness kibble, sometimes real chicken pieces & steak). Now I am almost 7 mos old and you should see my ears... they are not hairless anymore but I still scratch my forelegs and rump alot. Benedryl helps too. I also like to chase my tail. bol I think I read somewhere that hairless/thin haired animals should use sunscreen spray when their out & about. Maybe even use it when they lay in a sunspot in the house. My humom gets sunburned in the car thru the windshield. My humom also removes my collar at night. I really like that.

	Mama rubs fish oil on my bald spots. It's smelly, but it's working! My hair is coming back nicely

	My 5 year old was diagnosed with chihuahua alopicia when she was younger. I found it to be most common in blue chihuahuas. The vet told us that most of the time they will loose all the hair under chin on the neck the legs and stomach

	Howdy! I'm Nekkid, for sure!! I looked like a normal pup when my mom and dad took me home at 8 weeks. I had the softest baby fur all over...and then I got older and at around a year old I was about as nekkid as I am now. At first my mom read that around a year, due to an adult coat coming in, we shed our baby fur, so we might look kinda nekkid for awhile and not to worry. So, mom didn't worry, until I got a spot on the back of my neck that was raw (I can't scratch or lick there) and wouldn't heal no matter what mom tried. My vet sent me to the doggy dermatologist. Well, $ later we found out that I have a fungal skin condition that's hereditary. Sigh. So, I used the anti-fungal meds and shampoo and my skin now looks most wonderful BUT I'm nekkid for good. The dermatologist explained that in my case, it's hereditary and she blames it on bad breeding. Mom got me from a back yard breeder (Yep, she's learned MANY vet bills later)and who knows what my breeding background involved? My doggy family and owners came from Mexico, so I'm a bi-lingual Chi! But, I'm a true nekkid hairless. What really really helped my skin, besides the anti-fungal shampoo, is Oatmeal conditioner, after the bath. The Dermatologist for doggies explained that while my tiny bit of fur doesn't need the conditioner, my skin sure does and BOY OH BOY has it cured my dry skin! I also eat a salmon based kibble, along with the special goodies I get that are healthy that mom and dad eat. So, for all you dry skinned pups, Oatmeal skin conditioner after the shampoo for your skin, it'll help tons! Mom puts a light t-shirt on me for sun protection when I'm out a bit and it's hot or per the dermatologist recommendation, a sensitive skin, baby sun block. No reactions so far to the sun block, but mom doesn't like chemicals on my sensitive skin, so it's limited sun exposure (potty breaks mostly when it's really hot) and a very light little t shirt. I have a tiny strip of fur down the middle of my back (daddy calls it my mohawk, he he) and the rest of my just looks like it has fur cause it's greyish, but it's my skin!! When I get a bit of a tan, it looks like I have way more fur than I do, but it's an optical illusion! My Derm sais I'm a hairless Chi, so we do exist! Maybe not on purpose, but here I am.
