My border collie is 62 lbs. He looks healthy to me. He was 48 lbs when I took him to the vet, but I changed his food since then. He's bigger now, but he doesn't look fat. The newer food just has more protein.

Without a photo it is extremely difficult to tell whether your dog is at the correct weight.

Border Collie sizes have a wide range. I've met some around the 25lbs mark and some at the 70lbs mark.

From that view I'd say he looks at an appropriate weight. It'd be better to see him standing from the side, but really as long as he's got a "waistline" he's fine.
