Trevor is 6 1/2 months old now and weighs 35 pounds. He is fit, you can feel his ribs, and looks wonderful. I had two other border collies - one was 45 pounds at his 'perfect weight', the other was 60 pounds at his 'perfect weight'. The larger one was very tall, and was a merle. - beautiful dog!

Shayne weighs in at a lean 35 lbs. I will say a friend of mine had a farm bred (working lines) purebred border collie that weighed in at just shy of 70 lbs (of lean muscle). This dog was MASSIVE. Both parents were full bred border collies (both large dogs themselves)--the family had apparently been breeding larger border collies to work their bovine creatures for 50 some odd years (several generations of humans). He was super tall and just generally a big boy. He lived to be 15 years old!

I, Checkers am exactly around 49.9- 60 lb. My owner asked the vet if i was over weight and she said no. (You should see me when i take a bath! I have chicken legs and chicken arms. I bet all my weight comes from my fur. and my stomach looks like greyhounds!!!) So please dont make fun of me little angel shrug

Am i overweight or do you think of me just right?

Sweets is about 39 lbs right now...shes short and is really supposed to be about 30-32 lbs but shes been on heartworm crate rest, so that explains the lack of exercise. but as soon as shes free to go, the exercise training begins!

I was 43 lbs for the past 7 years, but now I'm 39. I got a bit too skinny and mom plumped me back up.

She had all my sisters on a diet, so she thinks she started being cheap on my food too even though I was just fine. She added 1/4 cup a day more and she is very happy with my weight.

Tess is tiny for a Border Collie, she's 5 and a half and stands at 19" at the withers. She weighs only 24lbs. She's about right for her size, she is not underweight at all.

Bob is a lot bigger, about average size foe a male Border Collie, maybe a bit bigger than average. He weighs 53lbs. He is about right in terms of figure as well.

helloooo....! - i'm TALKING to- you!!!!!

i dunno how much he weighs exactly (haven't weighed him in a donkey's age) but i'm guessing he's easily over 30lbs.

it's hard to tell if he's overweight, though, because his fur has started growing like kudzu - his tail looks like a mutant cactus stuck to his butt because of all the semi-tight waves but it's not long enough to actually wisp around in the air. it actually looks a lot like a really crummy burt reynolds toupée.

if i rub his sides, i can feel his ribs but definitely can't see them. he's looking very stocky, too, but you gotta dig right down to hit skin and he's got some really nice feathers coming on his legs so i'm thinking a lot of that "excess" is fur.

Dandelion: your page says that Dandelion is 6 mos. old. Since he's still growing, you might want to keep an eye on what range he actually does weigh. Most food guidance recommendations and medications (i.e. heartworm) are based on the weight and/or age of the dog, so you want to be sure you are giving an appropriate amount or dose.
