Jogger living dangerously...

This is a place to gain some understanding of dog behavior and to assist people in training their dogs and dealing with common behavior problems, regardless of the method(s) used. This can cover the spectrum from non-aversive to traditional methods of dog training. There are many ways to train a dog. Please avoid aggressive responses, and counter ideas and opinions with which you don't agree with friendly and helpful advice. Please refrain from submitting posts that promote off-topic discussions. Keep in mind that you may be receiving advice from other dog owners and lovers... not professionals. If you have a major problem, always seek the advice of a trainer or behaviorist!

OBEY ME!

Ack! That jogger would have gotten a few nasty words out of me if they did that to Conker (but they'd have to bend over so that might not work so well). Maybe not if it were one of the girls, but still. Touching somebody's dog, that you do not know, especially if they don't really know you are there, is very stupid.

Oz has gone after his fair share of joggers who attempted to do such things silencedsilenced

I sincerely don't understand the impulsive behaviour of "drive by" petting. I get when you stop and ask someone to pet the dog, you're looking for a certain level of affection or to enjoy a certain pleasing texture is the dog is soft.

But when you jog by like that I don't understand what, if anything you'd get. shrug
Maybe they feel that they're doing a service to the dog by giving him a nice pat? shrug
People in this world continually confuse me. Surely they all understand that underneath the fluffy exterior there's a few rows of large carnivorous teeth?

I gotta admit. It was dumb. But frankly... in my teens I would have been that jogger. I know, I know. But sometimes you just... don't KNOW any better. Which is why places like Dogster are so important! They educate well meaning but clueless people like that.

And yes, Chandler was a VERY good boy.

Good dog!!! way to go

I had a biker pass me about only about 2 feet from Nick and made a comment about him. Thank goodness she was there and gone in a blink so Nick had no time to react (sometimes he does react to bikers) or that could have been grisly. I walk on the grass now when I can.
