Suka is utterly confused on how to lay down when I say it. Or maybe I'm having the one who's having trouble teaching it. Anyone wanna help?

Starting from a sit with some yummy treats, put the treat right in front of her nose and bring it straight down to the floor. When your hand is on the floor bring the treat straight forward. Avoid pushing on her and if she seems confused take a break and settle yourself down. She may nibble at the treat on her way down and that's ok. Just remember keep sessions short and fun. And always end with something she is really good at to keep things positive.

Another method you can try is luring her underneath something (stool, table, whatever you can find that is the right height) and when she gets down to crawl under it, reward her. This a bit easier with smaller dogs, but hopefully there is something around your house that is the right height for Suka.

Yea at puppy class, the trainer used that as an example, like crawling under my legs if i was sitting on the floor, to teach it but all the puppies there are much smaller than Suka so we quite can't use that one but a stool or chair might work.

I like to capture it with small dogs. Go to a boring room and just wait for the dog to lie down, then click and toss a treat and repeat.

It works well with a clicker savvy dog, usually takes a bit of time to get just a few reps in the first few sessions and then becomes a favorite behavior.

Use caution if you are teaching Sukka to crawl under anything. We taught my Dane to lay under things in my very tiny apartment. Six months later she was tipping over tables by standing up while still under them.

Many dogs will bend over with their butts in the air when you lower a treat to the floor, but if you then slowly slide it away from them along the floor, that usually gets them into a down. Most importantly, praise like crazy when she does it right.
