GO!

What do you dogs do when they think it's time to eat?

This is a place to gain some understanding of dog behavior and to assist people in training their dogs and dealing with common behavior problems, regardless of the method(s) used. This can cover the spectrum from non-aversive to traditional methods of dog training. There are many ways to train a dog. Please avoid aggressive responses, and counter ideas and opinions with which you don't agree with friendly and helpful advice. Please refrain from submitting posts that promote off-topic discussions. Keep in mind that you may be receiving advice from other dog owners and lovers... not professionals. If you have a major problem, always seek the advice of a trainer or behaviorist!

The dogs do nothing to indicate it's food time. The cats however...begin agitating heavily about an hour before breakfast or dinner. When I actually start to move around to feed them, the dogs instantly go and sit in their crates and wait patiently, while the cats continue on swarming. It's a nice system.

Jackson Tan

Lad about town

Barked: Sun Apr 15, '12 6:32pm PST
The only time Jackson 'asks' for food is when I'm eating (doesn't matter what food it is), he sits by my side straight as an arrow, starting intently, and drools in long strings.

He never asks to be fed his own food though. And a lot of the time when its not when I lay it down he will ignore it until he wants it. We don't have set meal times but even if we did I doubt he would ask.

Little Fox

Tika sits on my feet, looks up, and gives me her best "I'm wasting away, please feed me!" look. When I actually start preparing her food, she races around to every window of the house and barks a few times to scare off any squirrels that have dared to enter her territory.

We're like Tanuk, Gus lets the cat play the heavy! laugh out loud

Usually Gus is pretty patient about waiting for breakfast and will sleep in with me if I'm lazy about getting up, but sometimes she demands belly rubs while she's waiting for me to get up.

The cat however, escalates from heavy purring in the face to light clawing pretty quickly . . ..shock

I feed dinner at around 5, but when 3 rolls around Paris thinks she's getting fed whenever anyone moves a muscle. She'll jump up and down and run to her bowl and sit and wait for food. If it doesn't come, she'll start whining. Then she'll come over and pester someone and try to give the poor starving street urchin routine.

Nicky's pretty nonchalant about feeding time. He doesn't get excited until I start preparing the meal.

I love sitting- in laps

Barked: Mon Apr 16, '12 8:05am PST
Moose doesn't do much of anything, thank goodness. He just lays around and maybe stares at me a bit, but other then that, he's not big into telling me he's hungry.

GO!!!

Barked: Mon Apr 16, '12 8:49am PST
Wyatt gets on the back of the sofa and woofs at me, Huck will drop a stuffy on my lap and Callie sits there and stares at her bowl, like by osmosis, the food will appear. When I get the hint, Wyatt stares at me, Huck does laps around the coffee table with his stuffy and Callie sits there and does heavy sighing like I am not moving fast enough, lol
