Just wondering, if Beauce owners would mind posting what their pup size was while growing (weight/apprx-hight, especially interested in around 4 months)? My vet seems to think Enda is under sized, yet they know nearly nothing about the breed confused (had to ask, then write in her chart the extra toes stay!)

I know this is out of date, but I thought I would post for future readers. I adopted a 12 week old purebred Beauceron in June. When we took her to the vet the next day, she was 24 lbs.
She was approximately 39 lbs at 4 1/2 months.
At five months (last Friday), she was 47 lbs. My husband and I started worrying that she was going to be large for a female, but the vet says that she will probably start slowing down soon.

Have not had her weighed again in some time, last weigh in was around 9 months and 52lbs. Well, I've disproven the vet! She is around 25" tall, and I've come to the conclusion, the growth rate of this breed is like a greyhound. They grow "UP", then out, lol. You can already see her filling in at places, but the other two I know didn't fill in till around 2 and after. I was shocked at the b*tch when I saw her from a short break between 2 1/2 and 3 years old, it is like she popped over night. They are not only slow to mature in temperament, but heft. Basically, I've just come to not listen to half what my vet says, this is their first of this breed and in retrospect you can't even begain to compare them to GSD's or the like.

Also to add, at the last AKC show I saw two new Beauceron's. One was very much more mature looking and acting than the other yet, she was the baby of the two! The older one didn't actually even look or act as mature as my girl for being born the same year. I can only conclude to the instance it had something to do with the different dams (they had the same sire). And I also must suspect with the very young age of the mature looking b*tch, she very well may wind up being over done at full adulthood, something I tried to steer away from with my desire for an athletic preformance dog.

As well, tell us more about Mika! would love to know where you aquired her, and how she is doing as a companion for you wink?

Hi Edna ;-) be patient, this is a slooooow maturing breed. She is doing just fine for size, in fact she is growing up into a very attractive young lady, I wasn't sure at first, but she is developing into a lovely dog.

Moxie is 59lbs and about a year and a half old. She was big while growing, but just sort of stopped. She is still long and long legged... but not "big" for a Beauceron. She is on the small size of the standard and that's fine with me. Just like her Momma...
