Hi,

We are absolutely in love with our 13-year-old Bearded Collie and would like to add another to our family. After contacting a few breeders, we were disappointed to find out that the charge for a puppy is $1,200 or more. Yikes.

While we both think they are actually worth millions, there is no way that our family can afford that price. Does anyone know how we might find a responsible breeder who has bearded collie pups for a price that a normal family can afford? Our dog is our heart, and we include him in everything. We would do anything for him. A new puppy would receive the same love and dedication from us.

If anyone has any suggestions, we would be extremely grateful. Thank you.

I'm with you! My husband and I are new emtpty nesters and got our first Beardie! What a treat, such a love. I caution you to be very selective. We went to a breeder, did the whole background check and all and still came up with a $1200 dog AND hip dysplasia. Naturally we were already in love so there wasn't a thing we could do but go ahead and have the $3500 surgery. Not only the severe hip dysplasia (at 4mos old??) but he had retained testicles AND baby teeth. Myles is now a huge investment but thankfuly we were able to get the bionic hip and fix whatever else he had wrong. What an ordeal!
Look up Myles' profile. He's a cutie!
Have you tried a rescue?
Good Luck

Maybe your best bet would be a rescue Beardie.

I wouldn't trust any breeder that is willing to sell their dogs for less than the usual asking price. And forget about the ones available online. Something doesn't smell right with them.
