PATERSON -- The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who scorched a 3-month-old beagle with hot oil or acid has grown to $15,000.
Two anonymous donors pledged an additional $5,000 each, Chief John DeCando of Paterson Animal Control said Wednesday.
Previously, the Humane Society and Save The Animals Rescue Team II, an Elmwood Park-based animal welfare group, each pledged $2,500 to bring the puppy's tormentor to justice.
DeCando said hundreds of people nationwide swamped the phone lines of Paterson Animal Control and START II, pledging to donate money toward the surgery and therapy that the puppy now named Beagle Boy will need.
Marge Cane, president of START II, said donations can be mailed to: START II, Box 177, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. | | | | |
