My puppy is four months old and her ears used to stand up and now they are a little floppy and dont always perk up is there a reason? and can her ears be "broken" so they will never stand up again? just very curious and having a very hard time finding info on it. thank you

AB's ears usually fold over. I think sometimes they stand up as puppies and then fold over as adults. But I adopted Duke at 1yr, so I don't know if his ever stood. It isn't normal for an adult AB to have perked ears.

AB dogs should have ears that fold down (unless they're cropped). When puppies are in their teething stage, the ears tend to fold back or become almost erect.

My American Bulldog -- 2 yrs old ears stand STRAIGHT UP to the tip when she wants them to. Her daughter 9 months mixed -- inherited her ears -- do what Shiloes did when young -- fold over but stand up at base. How do I add a pic of my dogs ears straight up? We call her Bat Dog!
