Pearls from a Princess by Pookie

My Mom, the Crusader

Heaven help us all! My mom is in her Crusader mode again! She got this really cool book called "Scared Poopless" which is by this totally cute little Maltese dog and her Mom. The cute little Maltese dogs brother got autoimmune hepatitis from a vaccine! This Maltese mom became a crusader too....about holistic healing, about good diets for dogs....everything! The author is NOT a radical and presents info from several
very well known veterinarians, including Dr. Jean Dodds, who has done tons of research on vaccines and is working on a rabies vaccine study, to show what France already has shown.....that the rabies vaccine only needs to be given every 7 years.

Anyway....I'm getting like Mom, I digress. I think it's cuz I just turned 11 and when we age (oh I hate that word!) our lips (and the rest of us) get looser and looser.

I asked Mom if she was going to get someone to design a cape for her when she is on her Crusade. She looked at me like I had two heads.

Poor mom....even though she is not working as a nurse these days, she still thinks it's her responsibility to heal and save the world.

Well, I do admit that statement is a bit over the top. She told me that when her boy Max died she vowed she was not going to be taken in by vets who gave bad advice, vets who did not even give poor Max anything for pain as he was ending his days from bone cancer of the jaw. Mom decided, short of veterinary school, she was gonna learn everything and anything she could....and perhaps never again have a baby who suffered as our dear brother Max did.

Pretty heavy for a Saturday night.....but Mom means well. And she gives good elevator service up and down to that big fancy bed of ours where we all spend our nights in amazing comfort now!

Of course she tells the General and I both of us need to lose a pound or two. Sigh.
So does she.....and we remind her of that, lol! Guess it does take one to know one, bol!!!

Royal Ramblings

Can't let Fluffy Lee or my mom do all the talking here, so I gotta tell you about our new bed. It is beautiful, elegant (where else would I be sleeping???) and.........IT HAS elevator service, lol!
Because it is high up, and neither the General or I can get up (or down) on our own,
every night when we go to bed, Mom picks us up, one at a time, and puts us on the bed.
We stay there all night just so we can get the same elevator down when it is time to get up and get moving. If I even look like I am thinking about jumping she grabs me and puts me down first. I take advantage of this to get down first before Fluffy Lee!!
All I can say is being a Royal has it's privileges!

Love and smiles,
Princess Pookie

I'm the Birthday Girl

Today, I am officially 11 years old. Mom has gotten me a new bed, a new pink ceramic food dish with "Princess" written on a silver tag on the front; she got me this wonderful grooming product, "Ice on Ice" that makes my coat shine even when it is not squeaky clean, and takes the tangles away, too! She got me freeze dried liver treats, and a new brush and comb to make grooming easier for me.
I am hoping she cooks Filet Mignon for me for dinner but I am not holding my breath.
Anyway, I do not feel like an old dog yet, so I am still gonna be a Princess, aggravate my brother, Fluffy Lee, and be as beautiful as ever.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

She's Gonna Cut My Beautiful Hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, my, what is a Princess to do?
There is a plot afoot in my palace here.....Mom, I have heard via the servants gossip (ha ha!) is planning to......YIKES!!!!......cut my hair on Friday.
I wonder if she is giving me general anesthesia or what?
I've never, ever had my hair cut in all my seven whole years on this
planet....I just don't know how I am going to maintain my Princess status
with some kinda butch haircut. Why, I'll come out looking like a gold and
white version of my little brother (God forbid!!) Fluffy Lee.
Oh, save me from this fate!
I have been sulking but Mom doesn't seem to get the message. She's telling
me my skin (which has been ravaged by a few flea bites) will be able to
"breathe" (hey, if I can breathe, my skin can breathe, and I don't need any
haircut to help that along!!) and that she can see easier if I have any of those
rotten fleas on me.
If you ask me, she is just getting lazy in her old age and wants the summer
free of grooming tasks....
How can I be a Princess with a freaking crew cut???
Is there some Animal Abuse Agency I can contact about this?
I feel like I have five days until she makes me do the hair version of walking
the plank....I am sooooooooooooo depressed!
I think I will try hiding under the bed (except at dinner time) for a week and
see if she gets the message about this haircut nonsense!

It sure is tough to be a Princess.....and it's gonna be tougher after that wretched haircut.
You may send flowers and other expressions of sympathy!
Write protest letters to my Mom!
SAVE THE PRINCESS' HAIR!!!!
Sigh.

Momma meets Santa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, everyone! Santa came early to our house and Momma met him!
Well, more or less met him. He sent her an e mail telling her he had given
her a Dogster Plus membership.......oh, she has longed for one so much for
so long, but you know my brother, Fluffy Lee, has cost her a lot of money
with vet bills and medicines, etc., and she lives on a "fixed income." All I
know is that means our freeze dried liver treats are limited....life is tough.
But I am joking a bit....mom takes great care of all three of us and we have
so much love, plus are kept clean and pretty (well I am pretty, ha ha!) and
well fed, and all....we sleep on her bed (except for Wilby, the big guy!) and
get walks and meet people who stop to pet us....
But back to Santa....and that wonderful letter! I will give everyone a little
hint....the people at Dogster are the bomb, man! That's what my niece Erin
would say. What a great group of people.....we are just so happy!!
Now I can have lots of bling on my page, well, as soon as Mom (who is
not too tech saavy to say the least) figures out how to put it all there.
And I get to have FIFTY of my very best photo shots for the world to see!
Ooooooooo eeeeeee, lookout world, Here I Come!

Mom says there's a lesson in all of this......if you are ever tempted to give
up believing in Santa.....don't! Mom says that Santa is just another one of
God's angels here on earth. And today that angel gave her the loveliest
Christmas present! So always believe!

OK, now I gotta go.....I need to start encouraging (well, mom calls it
pestering) Mom to learn how to fancy up my pages...and get those new
photos in my book!
Looking, the Princess is gonna shine now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wags and wiggles, kisses to all........
And Santa.......hey, dude, you're the Man!
