Coconut & Bones

Coconut and I had a pretty good day yesterday. Dad was herding him -off leash so he wouldn't attack me on my blind side and I got to relax with Ruby all day.

Ruby walked passed what used to be his tennis ball...a green piece of felt and snapped in her general direction. Pops put a halt on that action before it reached her.

I have to admit for a guy with a paunch Pops can move pretty darn fast. Cokes ran away a couple times yesterday...or at least tried and Pops got him back.

Coconut has been clocked running 22 mph. Grandma and Grandpa let him run along side the car for exercise. A practice we do not agree with but Coconut is not our brother. Momma and Pops have asked Grandma and Grandpa if they want their dog running after cars. It was more or less rhetorical. We'll see if they get the point.

Grandma wanted a cat so Momma suggested a cat that she was considering. Grandma said yes so Mom and Pops drove 1.5 hours south to pick her up. The cat's owners drove almost 2 hours north to get her to us.

Momma and Pops brought it over to Grandma's farm Saturday. The cat is a sweet, torti colored female. She is long coated. Grandma is afraid of Mice...did I say afraid I meant petrified of mice. So, the cat is to keep them out of her yard and out buildings. She has a cat named Meow Meow and that cat lives in the house and just goes outside. So, we figured that would be the arrangement with this beautiful cat. We figured wrong. This cat is not allowed in the house at all. She is currently in the Garage getting accustom to things before she is allowed to roam.

Not cool at all. When they told Momma this she made a fuss. She asked why Meow Meow got to come into the basement but this kitty has to stay outside in the heat and elements. They told her that Meow Meow wasn't allowed in the house anymore but then when we came over yesterday guess who was in the cool house and who was in the hot garage. Not okay!

Back to the story, they asked them to put the carrier on the ground so they could see the kitty. Coconut came over to the carrier and the carrier Jumped! It Jumped again. Momma went over to it and told them she is obviously scared of the dog and asked them to keep their dog away from her. They didn't and the cat was practically bopping the carrier out of Momma's arms. When she finally got the cat to the Garage to calm down it was a wreck. This was the first impression Grandma and Grandpa got of the cat. Not Good! They were not happy with it. Momma and Pops told them it was a very sweet cat but it was acting like a feral mess.

The cat didn't come out from hiding in the garage until we came over yesterday. Momma went in there and called her and she came to her. Momma asked Grandma if she wanted to meet her new cat.

Momma told Grandma that the kitty was only named Kitten so she could name her something. And guess what she named this kitten...BONES. Did I mention that it is a beautiful, Torti, Long Haired, Female Cat? ...and well fed...almost plump. I couldn't believe it.

Momma asked why she named her Bones and she said so she can tell Coconut to go find Bones. I don't know about you but I am not allowed to chase cats not even at the farm. I see bad implications from this.

That's enough about that. So much wrong with this family
