Arrival Story: I found an ad for basset puppies in the paper and we called and they only had one left, the runt! When we saw her we {I} fell in love with her.
Chelsea was an inside dog for 5 years. She became destructive and she actually tore a hole in the drywall in our kitchen.
So beginning of Spring on her 5th year We put up a kennel and bought her an insulated box, and put a roof on the kennel, and covered the kennel with clear plastic. For 2 years she lived in that.
We had to move to a different town. So we moved everything to the new house.

Bio: Chelsea shared a corner of our yard with pudgey. She and he were best friends.
Chelsea has an infected uterus when she was four and she had to be fixed in and emergency. She then began to have a cyst on her mammory it was infected so we had it removed and fixed to drain. Within the nest year she began to develop and other one. The vet said as long as it was draining, that it would be ok.
Last year when she was just barely 9, I noticed that it was not draining well, so I would help her out and get it too drain.
Just before Thanksgiving just a month after her 10th birthday I noticed that the growth had gotten larger. By the first Of January it was the size of a large grapefruit, and solid. I took her to the vet, and My suspicions were right, she had cancer. I tried to prepare myself before I left, that she would be put too sleep.
So I talked to the vet, and he said that he thought it could be removed, but the size of the tumor, and the fast growth would almost guarantee that it had spread and the wound made from removal would possibly be too large. I didn't want to put her through anymore pain, I also didn't want to hear how bad the cancer had spread and yadda.....yadda....
I asked the vet if she could survive the surgery, he said the chances weren't good. She I made the final decision.
I had her put to sleep..... sadly.
