Another plane ride in my future?

Cindy's been talking about going back to the mainland...hmmm...well...I liked California, and truth be told I'm happy anywhere Cindy and Ellie are with me. But the plane ride's kinda hard, I have to be in the varikennel for a long time, and it's noisy...

But she said there's no quarantine...actually, long ago, when me n Ellie finished quarantine here in Hawaii, she promised us we'd never have to do anything like that again.

So maybe this time once we get off the airplane we'll all just be really comfy and can hang out together.

California here we come

Well...yes indeed, I will have another airplane trip. I do wish we could just instantly relocate...Cindy would be spared the packing and stress, Ellie and I would forego the long day in kennels and on the airplane. But we do what we must to keep the pack together!

We have arrived in California

After another plane ride...I hate plane rides. I hate being in my crate for hours and hours...but I'd hate not being with Cindy most of all, and I knew I had to gut it out and be with her...also knew it was important that I be a good doggie.

It was wonderful to see her at the airport, and this time, unlike our arrival in Hawaii, we got out of our crates right away. We were in a motel for two nights and then yesterday we moved into our new home. It is a cottage on a ranch in southern San Jose, right near a lake. It is wonderful! House is kinda empty but that just gives me more room to run!

Back in California?

I find this all quite mind boggling. Once again, Ellie and I found ourselves in our varikennels undergoing check in at an airport. We had, of course, confirmed reservations but still the check in process is a bit complex. We must be examined, our crates must be examined, we must have health records...and we in our kennels must be weighed. It took us an hour to check in. All that Ellie and I could do to help was be good dogs, and so we were...we were quiet and calm and didn't even mind when folks looked in at us and admired us. We hate it when we get taken from Cindy to our place in the area low in the plane...but we know she is with us...and this time, unlike our journey to Hawaii, we were immediately reunited with her at the airport in San Francisco. We were released from our kennels and ran around the parking lot and then rod in Auntie Linda's van...sooooooooo much better than quarantine. We are now starting our new life in new home, we live in a lovely cottage on a ranch south of San Jose. We can not believe our good fortune to live somewhere quiet but with so much to see and smell. And best of all, even though we don't have stuff yet...Cindy said the furniture is coming later...Cindy is sleeping better now. The last two weeks in Hawaii were very hard for her. None of us slept much. We're catching up now!

Dogs of the American Revolution

I know this is a rough day for many doggies...me n Ellie actually LIKE watching fireworks with Cindy but we know that is not the case for most canines...so hope everyone is hanging in there and maybe getting some burgers and hot dogs from the barbecue to strengthen you for the fireworks later...

However, the day is not all about partying...it is about the founding of our country, which is a good country for dogs. Cindy went researching today about dogs and the American Revolution...and came across this story...kinda pawsome...

http://www.listnow.com/helpingpaws/articles/ar ticle_550.html

And so, George Washington, the founder of our country, was truly a dog person!

And who knows, maybe that little dog they found at Germantown was a terrier?

Happy July 4th! Let Freedom ring throughout the land, may we remember all the heroes, including canines, who protect our freedoms and keep us safe!

TWENTY ONE BARK SALUTE!!!!

Everyone sing...

I'm a Yankee Doodle Doggie...
Hiding out for 4th of July.
Before the booms and the bangs begin
I'm gonna find a place to hide.

Fireworks and rockets flying
Noise and smells and sights and sounds
Yankee Doggie went to town
Riding on a pony
I am a Yankee Doodle Dog!

Hang in there doggies everywhere! Remember that there are hot dogs and hamburgers to be had as well as all the fuss with the fireworks!

Happy 4th of July!

Frothing at the mouth about a frog...

Oh YICK. Super double YICK. I caught a frog sneaking around our yard last night, and ran out to catch him before Ellie could, and I got him good...but man oh man what a disaster.

There was this awful taste in my mouth, and then I started frothing, probably cuz he was so yucky, and kinda choking...so here comes Cindy running over with bucket and dumps the whole thing into my mouth and face in one big swoosh...I mean seriously, she held my jaw up and dumped this whole bucket at one time. She could've drowned me!!!

Okay, so the taste was gone, the white yucky froth was gone, but I was soaking wet, and coughing cuz some water went up my nose and down my windpipe.

So I went in and jumped on the bed and rolled all over the bedspread to dry off. I have exacted my revenge...

Hmmm...well...to be honest though, it was sure nice to get that awful taste and yucky foam out of my mouth. Stupid frog, he should stay in the pond anyway.

Thinking of Lennox, and his family

I am only one small dog, a mixed breed myself, living safe and comfortable with my family...pondering the fate of Lennox, who committed no crimes, injured no one, and was executed because a group of humans were stubborn and unwilling to listen to mercy or reason. In the name of dog, the First Minister of Nothern Ireland even tried reasoning with them but it was useless. What heartlessness.

I am only one small dog, but today I am adding "Friend of Lennox" to my page...to honor his memory and to keep hope alive that somehow, someday SOON, justice may still be realized and to keep him on my mind.

Lennox, I am so sorry you are gone, you were a good dog. I wish you knew the hundreds of thousands of people who fought for you...not all humans are cruel. You were a good dog Lennox.

Survived the Keeshond club picnic...barely

You know there are days when I really wonder what Cindy is thinking...this past Sunday, we all jumped into the Subaru and I thought we were off for a wonderful car ride...Sure enough, much later we were up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, at a house with this lovely enclosed yard, and a patio, chairs all over in the shade...
AND A ZILLION KEESHONDS! Okay, so maybe it was more like 12 or so...but all that silver and black fuzz. Cindy said some other smaller dogs were gonna be there too...but no. A bunch of Keeshonden and me. Boy, wore out showing them who was boss too. Living with Ellie of course I am not the least intimidated by those fuzz-butts. A couple of the bigger ones thought they could push me around but they quickly learned not to mess with me. Ellie kept a close eye on me but she knew I could handle myself, she only butted in if she thought the odds were getting a little too lopsided. At the end of the day, when all the humans were going onto the patio for their dinner, I had the very best last laugh. One of the Keesies tried to sneak onto the patio, and Mr. Brad blocked him with his knee, and of course I fit under Mr. Brad's leg perfectly and made a dash for the patio. All the humans let me stay...they said I deserved a break. Now THAT got Ellie's attention and she yipped a few times about me being on the patio and her not...but she was actually cool with it, I got a nice nap and a couple of bites of barbecue chicken and felt refreshed for the ride home. Silly Keesies, thinking they were gonna boss me around.
