Sorry, Pepper, to hijack your diary with my human musings. I usually try to keep true to this being your diary with your perspective on your life experiences. But I compelled you to bark about missing Yogi dog and I think we owe your furiends an update and some closure to the advice they gave me, your human.
Well, pups, I called Yogi's dad today. I will admit a certain reluctance to do so. Wasn't sure how he would take, "I think I saw your dog last week and did nothing."(I did not actually phrase it that harshly) I was prepared for him to be as hard on me as I've been on myself.
He was nothing of the sort, which in some ways makes me feel worse. He was quite kind and appreciative. You pups were right, calling was the RIGHT thing to do. It would have been EASIER not to. Thanks for nudging me in the right direction. Dogster might be viewed as a silly dogs' website, but I think it, through you all, makes me a better person.
On the Yogi search front, unfortunately, he is still missing. A couple of other people also saw him last Friday in the same area I saw him. There have been no new sightings.
Yes, Flicka, this one is hard to accept. But I have learned from it.

Pepper's Mom, we are so happy to hear this news and we are so proud of you!!!! We know how hard that was for you to do!
You go girl! BOLBOLBOL
Woof Woof, Molly
You sure needed them after that experience! Good for you!
Hope this pup will be found soon.
Sweet lady ....
The "could have beens and might have beens" are part of the bumpy road.
If I had been Yogi's Dad... I would have been thankful that you CARED... and you did... and DO.
On this site I have found a measure of love and care and stupidity(grins) in wonderful bucket fulls.
Yogi's Dad.. evidently is another who doesnt think Yogi is "just a dog".
If finding one more soul is the reward of the sadness... then there is one more star simply shining in the night sky.
I feel that THAT... the knowledge.... is maybe the lesson we all needed to learn.
Be safe Yogi..... we ALL learned something of value.
Pepper, tell your Momma to stop beating up on herself...
Once, when Momma was in college, she saw some loose dachshunds.. while trying to look at their tags, one bit her. Uh oh, she was worried she would have to get rabies shots. She called the Austin cops, they got the dogs, and luckily their owner was found and they had their rabies shot so Momma didn't have to get some of her own.
Now, Momma still helps lost doggies when she can. But you have to keep your own safety in mind, too. If the dog is aggressive or takes off, she calls the pound and lets them get them.
But our pound is wonderful and has a low-kill rate. In fact, if you tell them your dog is missing and they find a dog that meets the description-- THEY call YOU!! It sounds like there was no place for her to stop to try to get the dog... and who knows, it might have taken off. But calling the owner was nice of her to do, that way they know where their dog might be.
Give your momma some licks Pepper and tell her not to be so hard on herself!
oh Pepper's Mom...you did such a great thing and I'm sure Yogi's Dad was so greatful of the phone call...
hugs for you!!!
Thanks all for your kindness.
