I'm a Pepper!

Poor Duck!

Unfurtunately, our week of good news has ended on a rather sour note. On Thursday while walking with Mom to the Fedex box we saw a motorist blatantly drive over a female duck.

Luckily the duck, maybe, will be alright, because the truck passed over her, rather than on top of her and thanks to a couple of Good Samaritans walking their own little dog. Mom's not sure how helpful she could've been with me in tow, so she was grateful for their presence.

The lady scooped the duck out of the road to safety. Because the duck had blood coming out of her beak things seemed bad.But after a few minutes she seemed a little less stunned and, unfortunately, wanted to run back into the street.

We did our best to keep her from getting hit a 2nd time and the lady scooped her back into her arms again. A nice man on a motorcycle also stopped and said he saw the whole thing and maybe the duck just needed a little recup time.

The kind lady, man and dog agreed to take Miss Duck to a safe area and see if she would recover.

We are so grateful for their generosity to spend their time and energy in the care of this humble creature.

Unlike, the motorist who at best was so inattentive he did not see a large, slow moving bird in his path or worse could not be bothered to stop for a few seconds and let the animal cross. Since there was no other traffic it's not like there was a safety issue in stopping.

Mom was saddened at how idiotic and self absorbed people can sometimes be. On the other hand she was heartened at how kind, generous and helpful others are.

We have to go through a 'goose crossing' path on our way to church, and have been late on occasion due to the long parade of those geese!
They just get themselves into a long single file...kind of cute actually! They want to cross from the park/creek area over to the schoolyard! Go figure! And it is a 5 lane road....not exactly slow traffic!
Glad the duck had some good Samaritans!

Thanks, MrJack. We are hoping she turned out to be ok.

Hope all of your geese make it across safely on a regular basis! How sad if folks don't slow down fur them!

Some humans so mean & uncaring while others go outta their way to show kindness! Thank the Great Master above for the kind ones.

I am also SICK of folk driving with mobile phones glued to their ears. NO ONE is that indespensable

It is illegal and bookable in the UK (only hands free are permitted and thats bad enough)

WHY isnt it illegal in all states here ??? In a few it is.

People like that idiot need some hard lessons.. lets start with a fine and go from there.

We all know accidents happen.. not talking about that... ( that doesnt include using a cell phone either)

GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRR

and THANKYOU to your mum and the other folk who DID care.

You're right Flicka. It is illegal here in CA to drive while using a hand held cell phone. But we still see plenty of it.

Although the guy in question did not appear to be talkin' on one. Because we were approaching from the opposite direction he had to drive right passed us, so we got a really good look at him. Mom yelled a rather unkind word at him (she's not proud of herself, but, boy, she says it sure felt good!) At least if he knowingly did not stop for that duck he knows someone saw and was disgusted by him. If he didn't realize he just hit a duck then he probably just thinks she's crazy. Either way she can live with herself.

Yelling rude words at idiots is ALLOWED !!!

Unfortunately cell phone usage in a vehicle is still legal in Oklahoma . Not the only thing that needs addressing .

Thanks fur understanding, Flicka. Mom would rather not be rude to anyone if she can help it. But, you're right, some people!
