Arrival Story:
I was thinking about getting a puppy because I was getting really lonely. My kids were out of the house and my boybriend was traveling a lot. So I decided that I would go to the pet store at the mall and "look" at puppies to give me an idea of what I wanted. I was thinking of a Malti-Poo or some poodle mix. Then I discovered something wonderful! I could go to the pet store and hold them, play with them while there and even take them for walks....For FREE! AND the best part was that I would get my "puppy fix" and not have the headaches of potty training and all that goes with a new puppy. I also felt sorry for the little puppies sleeping all the time in their crates, they looked so sad too! I thought I was doing a good deed by going there and walking them and loving them even if it was for 1/2 hr. or so every other day. Of course I got attatched to them and starting feeling bad as they were being sold and gone. I knew that I couldn't afford the pet store prices nor could I really afford to own one, so I thought I should stop going. Then just when I was about to stop....Max appeared! He was bigger than the rest of the other puppies and I asked where he was, how did I miss that one, and they said he had been in the back isolated because of Kennel Cough. I fell in love with him immediately! I felt bad he'd been all by himself for 2 weeks, so I started playing with him and walking him everyday for a week. I had a trip to Catalina Island planned and was going to be gone for 10 days, so I was sick about leaving him! I thought about him all the time I was gone, and prayed that he would still be there when I got back. I had convinced myself that if it were meant to be then he would still be there and he would remember me when I saw him again. Well, when I got back he WAS there & he remembered me! I had to have him, but still couldn't afford to buy him at $699.00! So I decided that I would make an offer of $599.00 ( which was still too much to spend) and when I went that day to do so.....there was a "Sale" sticker on his window and was reduced to $499.00! I thought it was a good sign that he was meant to go home with me. The rest is history! He's such a good dog, so lovable, smart, happy and quiet. He hardly barks ever or makes even a peep. When he whines, it's just a little whimper. Soooo Cute!

Bio:
He was named after my late step-father, Max. He was such a good man, so sweet and a caring. I asked my Mom first, and she was thrilled that I would name him that. BUT....I really had a hard time calling his name out. I felt like I was calling on my step-fathers spirit and it really started to freak me out! So, I found myself calling him "Baby" or "sweetie pie" anything but Max. My boyfriend came home after about 2 months of having Max and he said right away..."He doesn't know his name!!" He really didn't either. We'd call out his name and he wouldn't even turn his head! So my boyfriend started calling his name out all the time and it started to grow on me, within a few weeks he knew his name finally!

Forums Motto:
Captain Max

After I got Max, within 2 months my boyfriend "officially" moved in with me and shortly after one of my 3 sons moved backed home. Within 3 months I went from being by myself to a full house! I love it too!

Today I got to be the Captian of my Dad's boat! Well it was just a kayak, but I had soooo much fun! We went all around the marina and I wanted to jump in the water so bad, but I knew I would get introuble so I didn't. Later that night my Mom and Dad let me run around on a huge section of grass by the ocean and I had a blast! It was a good day, I slept good.
