Arrival Story:
I was given Jack as a Valetine's present by a former boyfriend. I certainly did not want another animal in my life at that time as I had just lost Whiskey. I had to keep him for the night before he could be returned and I fell in love somewhere between the bath he was in desperate need of and having to hold him to keep him from crying. Jack was one of 15 puppies and was just five weeks old. He was already nine pounds and so smart and loving. I eventually got rid of the boyfriend, but Jack was my baby so he stayed with me.

Bio:
Jack was my child, reguardless that he had paws instead of feet. I was lucky enough that Jack was able to attend school with me and then go to work with me for the first few years of his life. Everyone new Jack. Jack went every where with me. Jack had several surgeries because of bad hips and elbows, but he stayed as sweet as can be thru it all. When I met my husband he told people he was dating a single Mom because of Jack. Jack had to approve of him or we wouldn't have gotten past the first date. On July 5th 2005 Jack went for some dental surgery and when he came home he was dropping his back paw. He was taken to an orthopedic that sent him to Angell Memorial Hospitol in Jamacia Plain, MA. Before his appointment with Angell Jack's back leg swelled insently and he was in screaming pain. We drove Jack to Angell in record time. Jack stayed in the hospital three seperate times and had all kinds of tests. CAT Scans, x-rays, ultra-sounds, blood tests, etc... We paid the hospitol just under $10,000 during that time. The doctor in charge of his care kept telling us he had Hermangiosarcoma and that we should put him down or take his leg. We agreed to have his leg amputated and Jack's primary care doctor agreed Jack's temperment could handle the stress. The surgeon at the hospitol refused to do the surgery because there was no actual diagnosis of cancer. Jack's white blood count continued to soar while Jack was in in and out of the hospitol, but the doctor in charge kept saying Jack did not have an infection. Jack was not on anti-biotics for a good portion of the time he was in and out of the hospitol. Angell Memorial is supposed to be the best hospitol in the Northeast. It's were you take the hard cases that the family vet can't handle. While Jack was at the hospitol I was tols that all specialties were examining Jack daily and that he was getting the best care. On the morning of August 13, 2005 Jack went into cardiac arrest and died at Angell Memeorial Hospitol. I was with him when he died, he was in so much pain. I will never forgive myself for beliveing the doctor that was in charge of Jack's care. Jack was sent for a necropsy and the results showed that Jack did not have cancer, but instead Jack had a simple infection that would have shown up on a simple needle aspiration. Jack's life did not have to end. The doctor in charge performed the test on his second day in the hospitol, but did not follow thru for any results. She did not even perfom the simple test again. Instead she took Jack off of the anti-biotics that the Vet Dentist had put Jack on. I spent the next few months trying to cope with the loss of my child, I even went a little nuts, thinking I saw him in the house a few times as a puppy. I went in search of him as a puppy and that's how I ended up with Bubba. It took a little while for my heart to except what my brain already new, that Bubba was not Jack. Just when I was starting to heal a little bit from losing Jack, Angell Memorial sued me for the remaining $2800 that I refused to pay them when I recieved the results of the necropsy. They did nto treat Jack for an infection, knowing that Jack had a hip implant and dental surgery, even after my repeated concerns about his high white blood count. It is now 2/3/09 and court is schedulled for April of this year. We have had to fight for medical records and Angell's lawyer is refusing to produce anyone for depostion. Angell has dragged their feet along the way in an attempt to make me run out of money, thus causing me to not respont to the suit and loose by default. I have had two vetranairians look over the medical records and they both say the same thing, "a first year Vet student should have been able to diagnsos and treat Jack". At this point I have had to take out a second mortgage on my house to pay the $19000 in legal fees so far. I may loose my home over this, but I can't pay Angell Memrial for killing Jack, my child.
