The wind was blowing hard. It wasn’t your typical nightly wind that is felt here in the desert. Instead it was a violent wind that was threatening to down trees and lift shingles off of roofs. Of course I was sleeping on top of the daybed with its electric blanket turn on. I actually felt like I was getting cooked but hey it was better than being outside in that wind.
Just as my eyes were closing the call of nature hit. I laid there trying to ignore it but since momma always has a mini stroke when she discovers wet spots on the quilt I decided it was best for me to get myself off the daybed and hobble over to the sliding glass door in the dinning room so I could go outside and relieve myself. Momma opened the door and I cautiously stepped outside and looked around.
The half used bag of soil that momma used when trying to patch the back lawn was flapping and making a terrible noise in the wind. At first I thought it was Coco making the noise but then I spied her on the other side of the glass door laughing her head off at me as she chomped on her Busy Bone. That girl always has something in her mouth!
I stepped around the flapping soil bag and started crossing the lawn to one of my favorite spots to do my business. Suddenly, without warning, I found myself lifting off the ground and floating in the sky. I kid you not pal, I was FLYING.
“WHOA…how did this happen?” I said to no one in particular as I rose above the house and floated towards the moon. “Don’t be afraid little dog” a voice said. “Hey, who said that?” I asked.
“Me Wendell, I’m a magic wind and I can take you anyplace you want to go.”
“I don’t want to go anyplace; I want to stay here with my momma and my family.”
“Don’t be a big baby. Let’s go on an adventure: you’ll be back before anyone even knows you were gone.”
After thinking about it for one whole nano second I decided to go on the adventure, after all how many times does a dog actually get to fly?
Wendell carried me upward and asked me where I wanted to go. I know, let’s go to England and see my pal Finnigan the Weimaraner. Okay said Wendell, what is his address? “Address: I don’t know his address.” I replied.
“Sorry kid, but without an address I can’t find him for you.”
“Darn!” I replied. “I guess that means we can’t go visit Luna, Lobo, Mazy, Cooper or Redford either because I don’t know their addresses.” That will also eliminate Shiloh in Alabama and Professor Chester and Minnie in Virginia too – drat!!!!
“That’s correct.” “I can carry you anyplace in the world as long as you give me an address.”
By now I was getting used to the wind blowing through my hair. It was a strange feeling since it was touching areas that normally don’t get touched, if you get my drift – HeHeHeHe.
“Wendell I promised my pals that if they gave me their address I would not give it out to anyone and I also promised that I would not show up on their door step uninvited, so I can’t give you any of their addresses even if I know them. I guess you better take me back home – okay?”
“Sure kid” said Wendell as he lowered me back down in my back yard. “I’ll come back and check on you some other time and maybe then you will be ready to go on an adventure with me.”
“That would be great: we could go to Canada to see Abby, Zaidie, China, Biscotte, and Tippy. When were done there lets go to Indiana to visit with Walker, Fizzy, Chance and Destiny; and isn’t Idaho also in this region? If so, why not drop by and see Zoe and the gang? If we still have time I would really like to go see Buttercup in Maine and Ella in North Carolina; Sully and Socks in Virginia. We can’t forget to visit Ebby, Ceeley, Finley and Whitley, Stella Marie and Halo in Texas. Of course we would have to visit with Demon and Angel in Michigan, and…
But before I could name other friends that I wanted to visit Wendell disappeared into the nigh, however I clearly heard him say “who would have thought that the Little White dog would have so many friends – sheesh!”

You could have come by here. I would have loved to see you! Let's hope that wind comes back and takes you flying again!
You could have stopped by here too. We wouldn't have minded...now you might have because, Mom likes to bathe and groom things. She kidnaps family members and friends dogs all the time and takes them to the shop and grooms them then sends them home smelling like some perfume...this is why no one ever wants to visit Monty and I.
Thank you all for your comments - I was just having a little "creative" moment on Dogster - BOL, BOL
BOL. We're next to Zoe. That Magic Wind could drop you off for a visit. Even if the porch light isn't on, we're usually home.
Wish we could drop by! It would be GRRRRRREAT fun!
