08/21/11 The little dog who lost its way

Once upon a time there was a tiny dog named Red who had a dream of uniting all dogs and cats for a common cause, the celebration of their lives.

Red sat around and tossed off ideas to some of his pals and they decide to get together and start a web site where dogs and cats could post their photos and keep a diary of their daily events. The site was also so humans who cared for the dogs and cats could meet and become friends.

After many hard hours of work Dogblur/Catblur was born and it became an international sensation almost immediately. Humans were flocking to it so they could post their pet’s pictures and to start diaries for them. As predicted many humans became friends when they found they shared a common love for dogs and/or cats. The support system that was offered at this site surpassed any other social network at the time. At Dogblur/Catblur friends celebrated when a new member joined the family and cried when one was injured, sick or died. The bonds made were strong and fast and many became almost like extended family members. It was through this network we learned that Coffee poops in the most inappropriate places, Josh abandons the Alpaca’s to roam the countryside, Ella loves to wrestle, Buttercup is a model, Whitley and Finley enjoy playing in the pool, Zaidie has his very own drivers license, Abby is fearless when it comes to hunting and killing snakes, Patch went on a trip to Paris, Huey graduated from obedience, Demon Flash Bandit no longer supports Burger King, Pepper is becoming a world class herder, Tanner has to wear Doggles due to an eye issue, Stella Marie can’t be trusted when food is around, Jelly got new neighbors, Jia is a huntress, Ebby knows how to smile with her eyes, Tinker Bell has her own dinner table booster seat, Jarvis lost a leg but gained a baby brother, China Doll was called to the Rainbow Bridge and so on.

Anyhow, as time went on and Dogblur/Catblur became profitable thus making it attractive to companies that might want to buy it, and sure enough, without even a hint that something was coming, Dogblur/Catblur was “acquired” by HEY MEDIA and almost over night things began to change. Pesky pop-up advertisements were springing up all over the site. Features that were once so dependable now weren't working or only doing so sportily, but even worse than that was friends were closing their pages and leaving. Somehow Red had lost his way and one can only wonder if his dream didn’t change with time.

This story does not really have an ending because there is still hope that HEY MEDIA will keep what Red started and let Dogblur/Catblur continue to grow. For now though, I will stop here but reserve the right to add a chapter or two in the future.

OH PUFF.. ISN'T IT JUST AWFUL .. PUP LEAVING .. WELL WE ARE DIE HARDS AND WILL BE HERE UNTIL THE END.. IF WE LEAVE WE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH OUR PALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ! !!! BLAH !! ON FB AND DOGSTER ON FB !!!! WE ARE THE PAYING CUSTOMERS.. RIGHT!!! WE DEMAND BETTER SERVICE ! HOPEFULLY HEY MEDIA .. WILL GET THINGS STRAIGHT .. IT TAKES A WHILE TO WORK OUT ALL THE KINKS .. HANG LOOSE EVERYPUP !

We have met so many pups on this site and they do feel like extended family. Hopefully the current problems can be solved soon.

I'm sure not all the pups and cats are leaving. Some would not stop as much anyway because their humans are busy with other things. I always come to dogster even though I have a FB account and a Twitter page in addition to my blog. I like Dogster, and most of the problems get worked out eventually. FB has a lot of problems too, and the humans get frustrated with it, but most of them give FB time to fix the problems.

We're gonna stick around... we aren't on the book of faces, although I does have my own blog.... but Dogster is where so many of our friends are... so hopefully, they will fix things soon.

But I gotta say, if the photo uploader isn't fixed soon, they need to be giving some free zealies to pups who cannot upload photos or extending their subscriptions for the down time..

Hmm... maybe I need to post that in that forum about the upgrade as a suggestion..

We don't like the book of faces,either.... we are sticking around too.... we love all the furpals we have made in 1.5 yrs.
We gave up alot of daily activities to sneak extra time at the site. hang in there pals... they'll get the bugs out....

That is exactly how we feel. We love Dogster. We have met so many wonderful pups and people, but this SAY MEDIA has it all wrong. Mom has written them about problems - they just say to be patient and wait. But that doesn't help.
What is everyone going to do?

Great story Puff, it rings with truth doesn't it? We too could not see us leaving because of all the great pals we have made here but it is still very frustrating. We have pics to post but we just have lost patience. Hopefully they will get all the fleas out of here and we can go back to the Dogster/Catser we all know and love.
