It's late at night and I am sitting here watching you sleep. You seem so at peace but I know that isn't so. I'm wondering if your quality of life is not slipping away and if I am going to be forced to make some decisions that I don't want to make.

For now I am going to be selfish and continue to treat whatever medical conditions arise, but I know you are getting tired and worn out. You often stand around looking confused and lost like you are trying to tell me that the time has come, but I can't accept that just yet. It's not like every day is a bad day and for this reason I am not willing to give up the fight.

Tomorrow I am going to take you back to the vet and have them give you another saline injection to help clear out some of the toxins in your system. I will also discuss the breathing issue because I don't think “no action” is appropriate. I understand why they can't give you some of the medicines that would help you breath better due to your liver situation, but sometimes we have to take a risk and I would much rather you be able to breath then struggling for breath.

All I ask of you Puffy is to continue to fight the urge to give in and when the time comes that your life is nothing but pain and suffering I will release you to cross the Rainbow Bridge where you can be made whole again – but just not yet, okay?

Dear Sweet Puff... we are sending you hugs my dear pal .. and hopefully today the vet will have some answers for mommy to help make you more comfortable... and mom is right maybe she and the vet can talk about trying some meds that will help you breath better... oh we just love you and hope that you will be more comfortable,
