Yesterday I got to go help momma do some yard work out in our front yard, just momma and me. Coco was not invited because she goes running down the sidewalk and sometimes even out into the street so being off leash in the front is not something momma will allow her to do, but me, I stay with my momma so I got to be her helper.

Momma worked and worked in the yard and I explored the weeds and looked for treasures under the bushes. When I got tired, I laid down close to momma and made sure no one bothered momma.

At one time a young woman came up towards us and momma told her to stay where she was because I bite. I jumped up and went hobbling towards the woman and started barking and barking telling her to go away. Momma came and picked me up and then went to see what the woman wanted. She was giving out "free" raffle tickets for a $1000 dollar. When momma found out what the woman wanted she declined the offer and we went back to where we had been on the yard with me guarding momma to keep her safe from people trespassing on our property.

I do have an issue with momma telling the woman that I bite. In my few years that I have lived here I have only disliked the neighbors on one side of us who did not take very good care of their dog or cats. I admit that I snarled at the woman and her teenaged daughter, once each, when they both ignored my warning and daddy’s warning not to try to pet me. I growled and when they reached down anyways I snapped at their hands to tell them to leave me alone but did not actually taste any flesh in either case.

The other person who I snapped at was the man who was measuring the windows for our shutters. I allowed him to pet me but when he was walking out the door he suddenly stopped and without warning tried to pet me good-bye. His actions startled me and I snapped at him. Again I did not actually taste any flesh.

Because of those three incidents momma and daddy always tell everyone who comes to our house DON"T MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE WHITE DOG AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PET HIM. I have never actually bitten anyone while living here. If I bit anyone in one of my prior homes momma and daddy do not know and I'm not telling.

Maybe I should be proud to have people afraid of me because they will look upon me as a threat and will not mess with me or my humans.

I'm just setting the record straight, attempted biting and actual biting are two completely different things!

I think it is wise for your Mommy to tell the other humans that because if you accidentally did bite anyone, it could potentially cause you a lot of problems. Dogs have been euthanized over biting humans even when the humans deserve it so I wouldn't worry too much about it. We know you are a sweetheart, but your Mommy is protecting you from the stupid humans who love to sue.

Oh Puffster, we's so 'simler! I's too am a nipper! I doesn't like strangers touching me or coming close without my 'pawmission. Auntie & my Ma always told people not to reach down to pet me till I was ready. "She'll let you know when it's okay to pet her." they told people. I always approach slowly & sniff first then I's sit & let them pet me.

Puffy, your momma is smart to give people warning ahead of time. Most of the time peoples are stupid and will ignore the warnings. I'm glad you haven't bitten anyone... yet. :o)
