No electric morning

Mom over slept cause the electric went out at 3:45 this morning. That was just after the two of us had gotten up to go potty. I can not hold it thru the night like I use to. The warm wind was howling and taking the snow away, Very balmy outside. She was surprise that all three of us were in the bed when she woke up. It was a 3 dog night.

Boy, did the weather change by the time we went out at 9:30 this A.M. it was a cold, cold wind. We are all snuggled inside even tho the heat went back on at noon. We had a special treat scramble eggs and cheese and bits of hot dogs for our first meal of the day. That was of course after we ate our kibble and chicken broth. Mom now will finish the baking we started from yesterday.

I am feeling better because yesterday I went to the vet and got my Adequan shot for my arthritis. I am still taking two Zinc capsules a day for a zinc deficiency which runs in older Nordic dogs. The vet changed my eye ointment to one with a stronger med. It has a long name Erythromycin Ophthalmic . I am keeping my paws crossed that it works better.
Need to go now, cookies need taste testing

Rainy day / Baking day

It has been raining (cat & dogs)since yesterday. The only good thing is some of the ice has gone away from the deck and driveway. It gets us all wet and Sheena takes a loooong time to dry. Mom lets us have a smoked bone while she watch us enjoy it. I wasn't quite finished with it but she took it away anyway. Said it was too small to have anymore. Bummer!!! Mom said to get ready to make some dog friendly cookies from the Camp Bow Wow newsletter. Yummo. We are her official taste testers. We take that job very seriously.

We need to send some to our four legged cousins in Ohio in their pkg. We have included the recipe here in case you want your moms or dads to make them for you.

Recipe of the Month - Snickerpoodles

½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup shortening

1 cup honey

2 eggs

3 ¾ cups white flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup cornmeal

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix up the oil, shortening, honey and eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Press the balls down with a fork. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400F. Cool on a rack. Feed to the dogs. Store in airtight container. Feed some more.

Santa Paws was here

Santa heard that we want Trevor's Treats from Vicky Pet Connection . He got us some. Left us more can squeezy cheese. YUMO. That was all we wanted cause we have a warm home where we are wanted , loved and accepted in. Tell me what else could us dogs really need. It was to cold and slippery for our Christmas walk to see all the Christmas lights. Mom said we will make Poppy corn tonite and watch a movie. Sisser Gretchen talks during the movie until all the poppy corn is gone than she'll curl up quietly. Sheena falls asleep during the movie and snores loudly. Pearl is the only quiet one in the bunch.

The snow was so deep Mom had to shovel a path and a clearing for us to go potty.

It is real cold 10 degrees. Even I didn't like being out to long.
We do our business and check out a few spots then back to the door to be let in.

I can't see my backyard. Only snow. The snow is taller than me. The tracks that Mom and I made yesterday are gone.Luckly we are all warm and toasty inside. The wind is really blowing so loud we can hear it here insided. Mom says we will be OK . We have a brand new bag of dry dog food and a case of can food. We can weather out the storm. But it is hard to go potty when the snow is higher than your butt.

It is a great morning the Hounds are at camp. I got the backyard all to myself. I also got to enjoy my denta bone with out them trying to get it from me. When I came in after a long time outside I had my choice of what cushy I wanted to lay on . Mom also let me help her eat her hot dog. That last bite is the best . Just hanging out with Mom in the kitchen is great. Like old times. Mom says we are going to start baking our Christmas presents treats this week maybe on Thurs. when the hounds are at camp again. I know to lay quietly while mom bakes. If she needs me to taste something then she calls me and I am by her side in a micro second. I'm all ready drooling. We baked some yum-mo stuff last year.

Mom, finely got up early enough for Pearl and Gretchen to go to Camp Bow Wow. They ran and played with our four legged friends. They kinda stayed inside because it was cold out in the play yard. Inside it is temperature controlled to their liking. Mom sent them in with a snack to keep their energy up. They had a run on the treadmill that they have there. One of the camp counselors was there guiding them as they ran. They have to keep their girlie figures. Mom, picked them up after running all her errands. All the way home Gretchen (barking as only a hound can bark) told her about their time at camp. Pearl was busy sticking her head out the window checking out the scenes. I had stayed home with a Kong filled with cheese. As my back is hurting me and I don't want to get bumped around . I had some quite time with my sisser Katlynn (cat) with out the noisy hounds around.
They got home and we all had lunch of kibble and pumpkin puree with a little bit of can food. Now it is nap time. We are all curled up on the cushys'.
Till next time.
