A tick on me!!

My momy got so upset to find the big tick on me. She doesn't understand how it could be!!! She put Revolution on me every month, plus groom my silky coat every day. Anyone help!!!

New Teeth!

My new teeth are coming in! Mom says I look very handsome with them. It was a little scary when my baby teeth started coming out, but Dad gives me lots of chew-toys to help them along.

We're having a wonderful day here today - it was rainy outside, so I got all wet, but Mom took me on the couch and wrapped me up so we can snuggle and nap together. I love it!

Snow Bunny Dupree

Well, we had a huge amount of snow here last week. Of course today it's remarkably mild, but last week? Hoo boy!

Anyway, our boy had a wild time in all the white stuff. There was much more of it than there had been the first time he was exposed to it. He developed a sort of bunny-hop move that got him where he needed to go (i.e., his favorite pee-spot) asap!

I think he likes the slightly warmer weather even more, though. Not that I blame him! :)

Converted to Shih Tzus

I love all dogs, but I hadn't thought about Shih Tzus too much before meeting Lei. I have an Uncle who always seemed to have one and really liked them (I can't wait for him to meet Dupree when we go visit my family next week) but Shih Tzus hadn't made much more of an impact on me than affenpinschers or Rhodesian ridgebacks or what have you.

But Dupree has really converted me to the breed. He's a very intelligent, loving little dog. When we relax on the couch with him he curls up next to me with his head on my shoulder and snores very softly. He follows Lei & I around and "talks" to us all the time. I haven't actually lived with a dog in ages and I'm loving it. I can absolutely see us living with shih tzus forever.

Oh...and Dupree is also nice enough to let me write in his diary like this. :)

Snow Report 2

Dupree's Dad here. After the heavy snow Lei mentioned in her last post, we got freezing rain that turned Dupree's stomping grounds into a sheet of ice. He was pretty fearless about venturing out onto the slippery stuff, but when he tried to climb the hill he tended to slide right back down. Fortunately now all the ice & snow has started melting & our boy can go back to his favorite hobby of collecting fallen autumn leaves and chewing on them!

First time to walk on snow

Dupree is very funny. He didn't know what to do when the ground covered with snow. But one thing for sure he did his business fast!!!
First he smelled it and then he tasted it. I bet it was cold . He looked up to the sky and wonder what the white flakes are!!! Now he know what is snow???

Chaos before Christmas 2008

After moving to Reston VA, Dupree got sick real bad due to poison. We did not know what was going on with him. His symtoms was vomitting and weaving like drunk man. We got panic rush him to Hope Emergency hospital. It costed us $1400 for 1 night in the hospital. The next day, we picked him up. Dupree was happy to see us but he looked so weak. Plus he was smelled bad because he no one cleaning him. We thought for the cost we spend they should at least clean him a little bit.
During Christmas, we spent our time at Grandpa Frank and Grandpa LeLoye's house. They have 2 dogs, Eva G and KookKo. Eva is Boxer and out of control some time. Dupree had to be kept in the crate at all time to prevent attacked by Eva. Poor Mr. Dup!!! The vet at Hope Hospital called us after Christmas and said Dupree might have Liver shunt which is genetic disorder and they want to do further test which would cost us about $3500. Grandpa Frank got panic and want us to return the dog to the breeder. After talking to the breeder, we decided to wait and consult with our vet at Colvin Run Clinic, who is one of the best vet. He is not a typical vet who try to empty our wallet. We came home Sunday and by Tueday Dupree got to see his vet. After his carefully dianosed, the conclusion was nothing wrong with him. Thank God!
Two weeks later, Dupree got his rabi shot and he becomes a little moster of the house.
Dupree love to eat all kind of fruit and vegetable esp. carrot!!! Can you believe that? He love to sleep on the pillow on top of my head. He snores so so lound like his Dad. Like Father like Son!
