My Tummy Loves Grandma

Grandma is my new best friend. Mom had to work really late on Monday so Grandma came down and fed us supper. And then a little bit later she fed us again. It was awesome. Grandma has some memory issues so she forgot and fed us twice. That upstart Quigley almost squelched the deal. He was going to tell her we already ate. I ask you, is he a real dog or what? What dog would knowingly give up a second meal. I had to threaten him with my big tush on his head. That brought him to his senses real quick.

I hope Mom works late again.

I hate the Fourth Of July

It was a bad night. Too many fireworks. These things never used to bother me but Mom found me shaking again last night. Mom's are so comforting. Mom trys to sing really loud when the fireworks are going off. I'm not sure which is worse, the fireworks or her singing. Just kidding Mom. Hopefully today will be the end of such nonsense. Why can't we have the pretty lights without all the booms.

Sad days - our cat brother Chewtoy lost the fight with cancer and Mommy booked him passage to the bridge. Mommy says he's been reunited with Maleka, Callie and Raffles sos that is comforting knowing he's in good paws.

It's nice to have the run of the house with no gates up, but we'd rather have Chewie back.

Mom and I are going to the vet this morning for a checkup. I'm off all medicine except for the prednizone every other day. I had 6 B12 shots. My poops are staying segmented and not runny so Mom says I'm doing good but she would like me to get off the drugs. I'm still on my duck diet - yummy stuff. Quigley told me my nose had turned into a beak - but Mom says he's quackers and just trying to tease me.

Mom has had a four day weekend and this week she only has to work 3 days because of the holiday. We are in heaven having Mom home so much. Days have really been warm lately but Mom keeps it pretty cool for us.

So my friends, have a wonderful day and give your Mom's a big slurpy kiss today.

Mom is the Best

I've been having a tough time since February. First I had Giardia and then was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease. Lots of diahrea. Tried a lot of special foods and finally found something that agrees with me. It's made of duck. Quigley says if I start Quacking he's going to throw me in a pond.

Things get better when I'm on anti-biotics and prednizone but Mom hates for me to be on drugs. Now it seems I have a low count of B12 so I'm getting weekly shots.

The staff at Banfield have been wonderful to me. Mom took me there to stay during the day most of the week to keep an eye on me while she was at work. I love people and they are so nice to me. Everyone knows me now.

When Mom picks me up we go for a walk aftrward. It's been nice.

When I'm at the vet, Quig has to stay home alone. I bet that monkey face slleps most of the day. He's kind of a scaredy cat with out me. Say meow Quigley.

Keep your paws crossed that my new treatment plan will have me back to new in no time.

I'm so glad that Mom is with me every step of the way. Happy Mom's day and thank you for taking such good care of me.

Uh Oh Mom is showing her age

It was a restless night. It was past midnight and Quigly and I were already sleeping when we heard a loud noise. Mom was watching TV in the kitchen on a stool and she must have fell asleep and fell off her stool. Yes it sounds funny and it's just the kind of crazy thing that would happen to Mom. But, she wasn't laughing because for some uncanny reason she fell on her ribs. Mom says she remembers falling then immediate pain. Owie, owie, owie. So she's determined that she didn't think she had broken anything but she was in a lot of pain. So we attempted to go to bed. Well then I woke her up by getting sick on the bed - twice. Mom was moving pretty slow but she got us all cleaned up.

Mom called the health line this morning and they told her to ice it and maybe wrap it - and don't cough or laugh. Well that means she can't be around Quigley today because my brother is a real character.

Mom is freaking out about the snow that is supposed to come in today - they're saying 12". She's dreading shoveling with her rib problem.

I got sick again this morning and Mom is still worried. I'm going back in tomorrow for a recheck.

So I'm keeping Mom busy again with blanket washing. Now Mom is wondering if I'm doing this on purpose just so I can have warm blankies out of the dryer.

So Quigley is the only one in perfect health today and he's going to be busy waiting on us hand and foot. That is icing on the cake. I love it.

Stay warm my friends.

It Hasn't Been A Good Week

Mom's been worried about me. I started getting the trots last weekend really bad - just like turning on a water faucet. And Mom could tell I was not feeling well. Mom dropped me at the vet Monday morning before she went to work. I stayed all day and had tests. I have something called Giardia, not sure if I spelled that right. It's an intestinal parasite. Ick, ick, ick. What is a sweet girl like me doing hasve something nasty like that. They gave me meds and sent some home for Quigley too because it is catchy. I wasn't doing too well, Mom and the doctor were worried. Mom dropped me off at the vets for the day on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. My poor little butt is so sore and my upper lip on my face is a weird kind of chapped red. I think I finally turned the corner Wednesday night, and I was able to stay home all day. Mom and the doctor were very happy. I'm still getting hiccups in my lower region and sometimes my legs are a little shaky, and I get the chills, but Mom's home for the weekend so I'm okay. The little monster (Quigley) is giving me a wide berth. Mom must have had a long talk with him. Because I was leaky a lot, Mom has been washing blankets all week. Quigley and I love it when the blankies are first out of the dryer, all warm and cosy.

I'm going back in Monday night for a recheck. The doctor said Mom could get it too. I hope not. Who would take care of us then.

Uh oh, gotta go I think Mom needs to give me a back rub.

Comfy Blanket or Blizzard - what would you choose

There was a blizzard outside today. Not my kind of thing. I am a dog that is blessed with a strong bladder and don't really have to go outside that much, unless it's to go on an adventure. When the weather is snowy and blowing, just let me lay on my comfy blanket. I'm content.

Quigley is another matter. Mom says she needs a revolving door as much as that little monster wants to go out. Fine with me, then he's not bugging me.

The little demon enticed me out there once today and I ended up in a snowbank. Last time I follow him.

Mom realized she could not battle the snow when he's outside. He always wants to bite the shovel and bark at it. He's got a wire crossed somewhere up there in his little brain.

The snow is not my friend. I like to keep my toes dry. We had nice bare paths until today. Now the piles are well over 16". Not happy about this. But Mom is great about shoveling paths for us, but today all the snow and drifting was frustrating. Mom put straw down in Maleka's old kennel. It has a concrete floor and cold on my toes so Mom fixed it up special just for me so I'll have a warmer place to put my little butt down. Is she Mother of the year or what.

Well all this activity today has really tuckered me out. Nap time.

Revenge is Sweet

Well I got my revenge on my brother for his shennanigans and I didn't even have to lift a paw to do it. I am very touched that Dogster chose me again to be a daily diary pick of the day. What an honor and boy is Quigly green with envy. This will take the wind out his sails. Mom is very proud of me.

Are all brothers this bothersome or am I just cursed to have this Jekyll and Hyde sibling? I think it might be that now we just have a single parent and Mom works most days that he gets bored and is constanly bugging me. Add that it's so cold outside that he can't run off that extra energy so he explodes at me. Boy if Mom knew what I have to endure when she's out of the house, I'd probably get a badge of honor or at least an extra treat. My belly would like that.

But today I'm very content. Mom will be home all day, just like yesterday. I love weekends.

My Brother is a Blockhead

Why oh why can't I make my brother Quigley understand this snow thing. I tell him every day about the yellow snow thing. He is bright enough to know not to eat the stuff, but he sure knows how to make it, right in the middle of the sidewalk. I've explained to him that we need to go in the middle of the yard as Mom always makes us a path to a big circle, but does he listen to me. Nooooooooooooooooo. He goes smack dab on the sidewalk right off the porch.

Then he jumps over it and leaves me to walk through it. Some days I think he does this on purpose. My brother can be devious. I think this dumb thing is just an act and then he runs away and giggles.

Well gotta run, I'm planning my revenge.

Thank You Dogster - Daily Diary Pick

Thank you Dogster for making me one of the "daily diary picks" for today. What an honor. Chewtoy got the same honor yesterday from Catster so we are both in the spotlight this weekend. What fun.

Quigley is being a good sport about it. He's had the honor before and as long as we share any treats we get out of the attention he's cool with that.

Well gotta run - Mom has been home for 3 days in a row and boy are we tired from shadowing her.

Don't Shake Paws WIth My Brother

November 8th 2010 11:29 am
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

I just wanted to warn everyone - don't shake paws with Quigley. You would think it would be knowledge that would just come naturally, but my brother has never learned how to lift his leg when he pees. So the way he pees is to bend both back knees and yes you guessed it, 9 times out of 10 it goes on the back of his right front leg. He's had 2 sisters so what could we do. Mom is always washing his paws. He just doesn't get it.

One time he lifted his leg but it was his front leg. Mom laughed so hard I thought she would fall off the porch.

Now he's two and hasn't gotten any smarter. I'm worried about that boy.

If any of you Macho types can give me some suggestions, I'll gladly try it.

He embarrassed himself the other day and went on the handyman's tools. That brother of mine. Yeesh!
