Arrival Story:
She showed up in our yard in March of 2006; our cat of 15 years had just died and we were really bummed out...hubby, me and three-year-old son were hanging out in the yard when this huge dog just walks up, but not in an aggressive manner...hubby was watering the plants so sprayed some water in her direction to shoo her away but instead she starts to jump around and afterwards lies down and is obviously NOT leaving...it was a Friday and since our son had already fallen in love with her, we decide to keep her for the weekend and walk her around a lot to see if anyone drives around looking for her...the following Monday we were in a little park right by our house and a car slowed down and came back toward us...it turned out to be her owner...long story short: she had dug a hole under the fence (Mals are notorious diggers) and her collar had come off when she squeezed out...they were about to move out of the country (but ended up staying in the neighborhood after-all) and needed to find a new home for Luna, so would we like to keep her? Of course, we said! So we ended up with a fabulous, purebred dog just like that...we like to think she showed up to console us after the loss of our cat...we've had her for 2.5 years now and she is the BEST dog in the world!
