Hello from the Rainbow Bridge!

Hello pups,

As many of you already know, I crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 5th after losing my battle to canine hepatitis. Mommy is heartbroken but knows that I am in a better, pain-free place.

I am really happy here with my angel cousins! I am playing and running with them just like when I was young pup.

Although I am not here physically anymore, I will still be logging on to have fun with all of you. We have a great connection up here, you know! ;)

Canine Hepatitis

Mom has been really worried about me and thought I was just waisting away. I lost 4 pounds within a few weeks. Mom took me to the vet and had me go through tons of tests and blood work.

Everything came back normal 'cept for my liver functions. They are off the chart! I was referred to a big Dallas Radiology center and I had a sonogram.... everything was normal there too.

The specialist suggested a biopsy, which I had the same day. The results are in and the vet said I have Canine Hepatitis. I will be on antibiotics and a special medication that will help my liver produce better cells.

Mom is releaved in a way. She said I will have to be on bland diet (turkey and potato) and Pepcid AC for a little while. I will have another biopsy in a few weeks to monitor my liver.

The vet suspects it is a viral infection but wants to confirm the hepatitis is not caused by something else.

I need prayers to make it through...

The Vet Results Are In!

Hello everyone!

Well, I went to the dogtor following my seizure episode to have some bloodwork done and the results are in: I'm okay! Wait... what? Yep, it turns out that the seizures were caused by the medication I was taking to stop my diarrears *blush*. Sooooo, no more of that medicine! :( I also found out why I had the dreaded D: I am allergic to my food. So, Mommy switched me to the same food cousin Kinko eats and I am getting better. PHEW! We were all worried it was something far worse, so thank goodness it's all okay!

Thank you to everyone who sent me prayers and kind encouragement messages, it made a difference! :D

I Scared Mommy!

Hello everyone!

Boy, what an eventful day I had yesterday! I gave Mommy the scare of her life!

She was giving cousin Clyde a bath and when she came back, I started having a big seizure. My back legs gave out and I was convulsing on my side, my tongue sticking out on the side and my eyes bugging out. Mommy picked me up and tried to get me comfy. She was so upset that she was crying. When it ended, I was very confused and disoriented. Mommy set me down in a doggie bed, trying to get me comfortable, but I started having a second seizure. She picked me up and called the dogtor, asking him what she should do. He said there wasn't much she could do asides from what she was doing: making me comfy and making sure I was not getting hurt. Apparently you have to let these things pass.

She cradled me in her arms for a long time after the second seizure ended. As she put it, I scared the bejeezus out her! BOL! Since I was a breeder mama and was released to rescue, she doesn't really know anything about my medical history. As far a Mommy knows, this is the first time I've had seizures since I joined my forever family. I've had bloodwork done when I had my dental and nothing was out of the ordinary in the results. I guess we'll have to run more tests to make sure everything is okay.

The good news is that I have not any other seizures today and I am back to my usual perky and playful self. PHEW! :D
