a mountain lion...oh my!

During our hike on Monday at Sweeney Ridge we saw...or daddy saw...a...a...mountain lion...oh my! I'm not sure what that is but here's the story....

(I hear they look kind of like a big kitty cat...so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about if it's just some stupid cat!)

See, we were coming down from the top of Sweeney Ridge...and daddy started to run down the hill ahead of us and I was chas'in him...and when he rounds the corner he stops quickly and says, "there's a mountain lion!" Mom says, "grab Molly!" (that's me!). And then mom asks where it went.

See the trail is very twisty and lots of times you can't see around a corner cause of the hills. But when we slowly come around the corner another lady that was walking up the hill suddenly turns and starts to walk back down. So, mom says that she must have seen it too...so she asks daddy to holler and see if she just saw the mountain lion. She says she saw it too but she thinks it was a bobcat. Well, daddy's not so sure about that...he thinks it was a mountain lion.

Mom says that whatever it was she thinks that daddy might have scared it off because of his pounding feet...good for you daddy!

Today daddy is sure it was a mountain lion and NOT a bobcat cause he remembers seeing a long tail...and bobcats don't have long tails...and he's really, really glad it was running away from us and NOT towards us!

Mom says she doesn't think she's going to walk Sweeney Ridge any more, especially just her and I alone...which is kind of sad cause it's a really nice walk. But I guess I don't want to run into some stupid BIG cat either!
