Just call me "Martian Dog"

Last night was Thursday so you know what that means... time for mom to cut the grass. However, this time seemed harder for mom. She kept emptying the bag from the mower after only a couple of times across the yard. I think maybe because the grass was so high. She just cut it a week ago, but she said with all the rain, then hot weather it grew really fast. She made dad get the tractor out and run through it that way to make it a little easier. It took her longer to cut to which didn't make me happy because I was bored:( Usually I just lay in the grass she already cut, but because I was so bored, I started to follow her around. When she was finally done and sat down, she saw my feet... I had green feet!! She laughed at me and said I looked like a martian dog with my green feet. She said all I need to do now is sprout antennas... BOL :D Dad was none too happy that mom didn't wash my feet and the green wore off on the carpet. I guess mom was just too tired and didn't think about it. Tonight is flyball practice. I'll bark at you all tomorrow and let you know how I did. Have a good night!

Dog on the loose!

Last night I went to the barn with mom. It was Tequilla's 10th birthday so mom stopped at the store to get her some apples and muffins as a treat. We went on a trail ride with Dave and Chicka. It was a nice evening and a nice ride. When we got back, boy did I get a surprise. I was walking along with mom and Tequilla when all of a sudden... BAM! There was a dog on the loose and it was Pete! He knocked me off of my feet because I didn't hear or see him coming. I didn't know who it was at first because Pete and Polly are suppose to be in their stall, but apparently, Pete got out again. Well, I was none to happy because he knocked me down so I went after him. Not to hurt him, but to let him know that he couldn't do that. I ran after him and try as he may, he couldn't outrun me (none of my friends can:) So I hit him back and spun him around. When he got back on his feet, he chased me, but couldn't catch me. I wasn't mad at him anymore so we played like that for a while. But, as with all of my friends, he got tired of chasing me and not catching me so he quit playing. The only one that doesn't give up is Finn, but Finn still isn't around:( Anyway, since Pete stopped playing, I just hung with mom again. She told me to try and get Pete to come back in the barn, but he wouldn't follow me anymore. I guess he was mad at me since I wouldn't let him catch me. He eventually did go back in his stall. I know he isn't suppose to be out, but it is nice when him and Polly get loose because I have someone to play with. That was my big excitement for the night.

Jumps, jumps and more jumps

Last night I had agility class. Dad went along to see what we do. Unfortunately for him, all the equipment wasn't back from the weekend's competition so all we did was jumps. Dad really wanted to see me do the a-frame and dogwalk. Hopefully next time he comes to watch we'll do that. But last night, we did jumps, jumps and more jumps! First we did them in a row like flyball. Then we did them in a circle, which kind of confused me at first, but then I got the hang of it. Then we added tunnels to them and mom had to do that front crossover thing she hates. All is all, it wasn't a bad night. I would have liked to do some other stuff, especially after missing last week, but it was still fun... hot though! They didn't have the AC on and although it was cooler than outside, it was still hot! Next week is our last week and mom doesn't know if we start the next session the following week or not. The instructor didn't know yet. Hopefully we do because I like doing this stuff. Although, mom said it will be harder to make the classes in the summer because we have so much stuff going on. She assured me though that if they have another session, she'll sign me up!

BTW, mom put up one of the pictures of me playing with Tequilla the other week and also a picture of me sleeping on the backseat of the truck on the way home from the mountains on Sunday. As you can see, I was really tired... yawn:)

Another hot one

Spent the day in the nice AC at home. It was another hot one again today. I thought it was spring, not summer? I did go to the barn with mom though. She worked Tequilla in the arena then we went for a little ride around the pasture. She said it was too hot to do much more than that. Dad came over to help mom take her poles and barrels to another arena and I got to ride in the back of the truck with mom! It was only over the hill in on the farm so it wasn't like I was on the road. Mom says doggies shouldn't ride in the back of trucks on the road because they could jump or fall out and get hurt really bad. Heck, my mom won't even let me stand up while the car is moving or let me stick my head out the window. She said I could something could fly in my face and hurt me. Moms can be so over protective. But that's okay, better safe than worry I guess. Anyway, no one was there to feed the horses so mom had to so that. I just followed her around and tasted the water she put in the water buckets to be sure it was okay:) I also went with her to feed the goats. However, I learned my lesson a while back that I need to stay outside the gate and wait patiently for mom. One time I didn't do that and tried to go under the fence and ZAP! Yep, the electric fence got me. Not anymore, I'm smarter now:) We finally left and I was never so happy to get home in the AC. I love the barn, but having long hair makes it hard for me when it's hot. At least I had plenty of water and shade to rest in. Mom could have left me at home, but then I would have been really upset and she knows that. I'm glad she takes me with her, even on hot days:) They say today is the last hot one so hopefully we get spring back and get to enjoy that a little.

Back to the Mountains!

Yipee!! We went back to the mountains this weekend and it was soooooooooo much fun!!!! I knew where we were going when we didn't stop for over an hour. The only time our ride is longer than an hour is if we go to the mountains. It was so nice to be there again. Although, I must say I wasn't happy when we got there and unpacked and mom and dad left me right away. They came back a short time later and mom said she was sorry, but her and dad were really hungry because they hadn't eaten all day. I guess I'll forgive them, especially since they didn't put me in the crate. This was actually the first time they left me out of the crate in the mountains while they went somewhere. It was nice:) After they got back, mom took me for a walk to our favorite play spot in the woods. She threw the stick for me and it was just so nice to finally be back here. I love the mountains and it's so peaceful a dog can hear themselves think. We went spotting that night and saw lots of deer, some possums, racoons and cats.

Saturday we went to the property. Mom played frisbee with me and we wenting hiking while dad did some stuff with the brush hog. It was really hot though and when we returned from our walk, mom sunned herself in the back of the truck while I rested under the truck in the shade. We were there for a few hours, then we took a ride to the next town. I was just glad to be in the air conditioning because I'm here to tell you, it got hot! When we got back to the cabin I was reallyexcited because my Brett was there:D I didn't expect to see him since he wasn't there when we left. He played with me for a while and that made me very happy. After dinner we went spotting again and mom, dad and Brett all squeezed up front. That means I was stuck in the back and couldn't really see much. Mom was complaining because Brett was driving too fast and she couldn't see the deer. Oh yeah, there was a little excitement. When we were spotting in this one area, some guy came out on the road and stopped us. First, it was kind of funny because he slid on the stones and fell. Mom said he was drunk and that's why it was so funny. But it wasn't too funny when he yelled at us and said that we couldn't spot in the field because of the cows. I growled at him when he approached the truck and dad told him this wasn't a cow field and he's drunk and didn't know what he was talking about. Brett then drove off. To avoid more conflict though, we didn't spot in that field on the way back. Some people just can't handle their booze I guess.

Sunday was even hotter than the day before and mom and me hung out in the cabin for a little while dad cut the grass. I was getting kind of bored and I guess my whining finally paid off because mom said we'd go for a walk. We went to my favorite spot but along the way we passed some people swimming in the creek and a couple of dogs too. That made me think that maybe I could go swimming too. When we got to our spot, I ran down to the creek, but stopped. I looked at mom then at the creek. Initially she said no, but then she felt bad because it was really hot so she told me okay. I didn't need her to say it again either. I was in the creek faster then a cat off of a hot tin roof!! The water was cold, but felt really good. Mom threw the stick for me, but she didn't get in. I guess it was too cold for her. The current was a little stronger than I'm use to, but mom didn't throw the stick far so I didn't have too much of a problem. It just felt really good to finally be cool and to go swimming!!! When we got back, dad looked at me and said "someone went swimming" and I just smiled at him because he knows how much I like it and he knew I was happy:)
Shortly after that we headed home. We stopped at this place where they bring the food to your car. Sort of like that those mom watches "Happy Days". I was happy because I got a hamburger and it was really yummy! When we got home, I had to get a bath. Mom said I smelled like the creek and I couldn't sleep in bed smelling like that. After my bath, I was so tired I crashed.

So, as you can see I had a great weekend and I'm excited for more weekends in the mountains. I hope everyone else had a good weekend too.

P.S. Mom didn't take many pictures this weekend, but did take a picture of me sleeping on the way home which I know she'll post so keep an eye out for that. She said I looked like an angel:)

We're going somewhere

Last night mom and dad cut grass then I went to the barn with mom. She only rode in the ring for a while, but it was nice to go even if we didn't go on a trail ride. When we got home, mom starting packing stuff, including my stuff... we're going somewhere! I was getting excited and bouncing off the walls because I thought we were leaving last night, but mom said not until later today. I have no idea where we are going, but I'm sure it will be somewhere fun (as it always is). I'll let you all know when I return. Mom said it is suppose to be a beautiful weekend so I hope everyone gets to enjoy it. Have a good one and bark at you later.

A bit shout out to my friend Binx for a great job with his mom at the meeting the other day. Way to go Binx!!

Attack of the paper!

The past few days have been pretty uneventful. I didn't get to go to class on Tuesday because mom had another one of those migraine things. Poor mom, they really wear her down. Last night I went for a ride with mom after work, but I stayed in the truck while she ran into the store then back home. Shortly after, mom was out the door again. Apparently she went to a hockey game. I really wish I knew what this "hockey" stuff was that mom and dad go to all the time. Why don't they take me? Anyway, mom came home a couple hours later and she had a big box that she brought home from work. She got something out of it, then threw the box in the hallway. It made a funny noise that scared me. Mom tried to get me to come closer, but I was afraid. Finally, after come coxing, she got me close enough to see that the noise I was hearing was just lots of brown paper. But it wasn't paper like you write on, but crumpled, long brown paper that mom said they pack in boxes. At first I didn't want anything to do with it, but then it "attacked" me!!! Actually, it was mom playing with it and pretending it was attacking me. Because mom showed me that it wouldn't hurt me, we started to play a game with it. She would make it come after me and I barked like crazy at it then tried to grab it and run! It was funny because mom kept getting it around my neck like a snake and I kept grabbing and pulling it. Needless to say, it was paper and when I grabbed it, it tore apart. It was so much fun being able to destroy something without getting in trouble:) I never knew paper could be so fun... BOL! After we played for a while, mom took out the box and the now shredded paper and we just chilled for the rest of the night. Mom told me that I would be VERY happy with where we are going this weekend. She said it will make up for not doing much this week. I can't wait to see where we're going:)

Daily Diary Pick... again!

Wow, what a surprise I got today. I was picked for a second time to be featured in the Daily Diary. This is so exciting! But honestly, I can't take all the credit, mom does most of the work. Without mom to take me all these fun places and to spend so much time with me, I wouldn't have stories to share. Plus, she's the one who has to type them for me since my paws just make a mess of the keyboard... BOL:D We love sharing all my adventures, no matter how exciting or boring they may be and I'm glad everyone enjoys them. Thanks to Dogster for picking me and to all my pup pals for their support!!!

I saw something strange today...

Before I tell you about what I saw, I'll catch you up since Friday.

Yesterday I helped mom and dad was the jeep and benz. Well, okay, I didn't really help, but I did watch so no one came in the driveway and got their car wet:) Last evening mom had a "girls night" poker game. Boy were they loud! I guess that's what happens when you get a bunch of women together...LOL:D

Today I went with mom to pick up Megan and we went for a trail ride!! It was another beautiful day and we went across the street to the woods again. I saw something in the woods I never saw before and mom said we would probably never see again. We saw a three-legged deer. Yes, a wild deer. We were stopped looking at a baby cow across a field and mom happened to turn around and look in the other direction and there was a deer. She was just standing there watching us, really close too. I didn't bother her and we started moving again. It didn't scare her though. We didn't think anything of it, until we started coming back down the trail. We now saw 2 deer and they were watching us again. Mom stopped Tequilla so we could watch them and they started walking away, that's when we saw it. One was hopping and mom though it was injured, but the closer she looked, that's when she notice it was missing a leg! the right front leg to be exact. It didn't look like it was just lost because there was no blood or anything, but it was the strangest thing I ever saw. Mom felt really bad for the little deer, but it didn't seem to be bothered by it. It moved right along with the other deer without problem. Mom said she hopes that wasn't the deer that Pete and Polly hurt. I don't know if I mentioned in an earlier entry, but Pete and Polly brought a deer leg back to the farm one day. No one knows where they got it, but mom said it probably wasn't this deer's leg because they would have killed the deer to get the leg off. Mom thinks it might have been shot or hit by a car. I hope the deer will be okay and make it through the hunting seasons.

After the trail ride, we went home and I played with Megan while mom and dad waxed the benz. After that, mom, Megan and me went to the park. We were playing on the equipment when I got a heck of a shock! And I mean exactly that... SHOCK!!! Mom was coming down a slide and I went to jump at her and when I touched her we shocked so bad that I yelped! Mom was so upset because she got shocked bad too and she felt bad for hurting me. It wasn't her fault, I know that, it was the stupid static electricity. I haven't felt a shock like that since I tried to get in the goat pen and got zapped by the electric fence. After the shock from the slide, I didn't touch mom until she said it was okay (she had to uncharge herself before touching me). Oh yeah, I went down one of the tube slides too which was lots of fun:) I wouldn't do that before, but since agility and going through the tunnels, I love it now!!

My last fun stuff for the day was going to King Kone. That is an ice cream place by our house. Mom got me a bowl of vanilla ice cream and they even put a little milk bone on top:) It was yummy!!!!

As you can see, I had a good weekend. I hope everyone else had just as much fun as I did. Now it's naptime... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

1 horse, 2 horse, 3 horse, 4!

As promised, we went to the barn last night for a trail ride. (I say last night because it is now after midnight) But this time, it wasn't just me, mom and Tequilla, it was a whole lot of people and horses! There were 4 horses to be exact and at first I was a little nervous with all the horses running around, but I did what mom said and stuck beside her and then I calmed down. When I say I calmed down, it wasn't because I was scared, it was because I wanted to herd them all together! But when I finally realized that they weren't going to listen to me, I just walked along the trail with everyone. Mom seemed to really enjoy having company and I have to admit, I kind of liked it too. All the horses seemed happy to be out on the trail. Tequilla really seemed to enjoy the company probably more than anyone. Of course, they love to be with their buddies so I can see why. We rode for about and hour then went back to the barn. Mom and I went up in the hayloft and I hung out while she threw the bales down some hole. Not sure what that was all about, but after she was done, we went back out for another ride. This time it was just me, mom and Tequilla. It was a beautiful evening to ride so that's why mom said we were going to ride a little more. The only problem was, we rode near the swampy area and needless to say, I ran through it all and got all wet and muddy. This posed sort of a problem since mom just put my flea medicine on me and I can't have a bath for a couple of days. She said not to worry though, she would take care of getting me cleaned up. It was a good night at the barn and now I'm just waiting for dad to get home. Sleep tight everyone and don't let those bed bugs bite!!
